9.3 bullet test started. pics posted in #1

No you need lapua brass!

Nice to see the A Frame still cruising! Expecting similar results from the Barnes.

I knew what you meant, but we have some Lapua Mega bullets to test as well. ;) They are identical to the PRVI bullet of the same weight.

No flies on Lapua brass, however I have used resized 30-06 brass for at least 30 years, and never had a moments problem.

Neck up to 40, resize in FL die to get crush fit in chamber gives you perfect headspace, then load and go!

Just got back home. Phil, myself, and Barnes_270 who is visiting from Vancouver, were at the range until 11:15 tonight. Here's a couple of teasers for you guys. :)

The setup, ten jugs for each shot.

The get up. Impact velocity was at a tad over 2200 fps.

The clean up. Took a while, but spick and span when we left.

You'll never guess who fired these ones.

I'm off to the sack. More to come from Phil in the morning.

Well looks like you boys had a whole lotta fun last night!

Eagerly awaiting the results, and thanks in advance for all the work and time you guys are investing in this!

Can I make 9.3x62 brass by just sizing .30-06 through my full length 9.6x62 dies? I'll add my bullet expansion results from duct seal when I get a chance.

we had a good time again last time.

thanks again to Ted and Barnes_270 for helping out.

i will have some pictures as i found the camera cord and will feed some data also.

we will get some surprises good and bad as we shot a lot ....

some speed has been recorded and speaking of brass the hornady and remington ones are not working all the time in my rifle. extra work needs to be done with Ted recipe soon.

While it's nice to have the 30-06 formed brass as a back up in times of shortage - why bother when you can buy fresh, properly marked privi brass for $45/50 cases?

Nothing wrong at all with using factory 9.3X62 brass, double gun. I have both Lapua and Norma brass, and use them occasionally. However aside from enjoying doing the resizing operation on the '06, by the time PRVI brass gets shipped here it is $60, which is enough to buy 50 Matrix 170 or 190 gr bonded cores, and almost enough to buy Partitions or Triple Shocks. ;)

Another thing is that all factory marked brass is not the same. As Phil already mentioned the Hornady and the Remington brass is so far out of spec that he had at least half of them misfire because they did not headspace properly. Factory ammo does the same. The rifle has been checked, and the bolt does not close on the No-Go gauge. They are all going to have to be necked to 40 and back down to 9.3X62.

I resized and loaded five 30-06 cases for Barnes_270 to test his 250 TTSX, and they fireformed perfectly. Lapua, PRVI, and Norma factory ammo all fire the same.
