so colt offering an authentic classic true vietnam era colt but really not built by colt at all?
epic wtf moment
All AR are technically franken guns. Most of the parts are out sourced to subcontractors.

I hope they use the fiberglass stocks.
No, fiberglass for the fixed stocksThat would take away from the authenticity though. Yes, I know if they're not really made by Colt, they're not 100% authentic, but the aluminum stock would be a must IMHO.
Colt could do on volume what they could make by artificially driving prices up by keeping supply unnecessarily limited. Hopefully the powers that be will see the error of their current business model.
If they are made by someone else, they'll have to be marked as such. That really is not attention to detail.
Wonder what the twist on the 20" pencil barrel will be!?
I'm all for retro but I have always dreamed of doing an A1 clone build using a 20" DPMS 1:9 Pencil Barrel.

No. They would make far more on volume than they would through keeping prices artificially high by limited production.
If they offered these as regular items and asked, say, $600 US each, they would likely never be able to keep up with demand.
Same. Hopefully that's the one part they don't keep accurate to the original design. 1:9 or 1:7 would be awesome.
Anyone else wonder if they'll introduce the Model 656 with the Special Purpose Low Profile upper?

Does anyone know where you can find those things XM-177/C8A2 handguards? I like the feel of them way better than the M4 ones.
