Colt Classic Line Teaser From the NRA Show M16A1 and XM177

Wonder what the twist on the 20" pencil barrel will be!?
I'm all for retro but I have always dreamed of doing an A1 clone build using a 20" DPMS 1:9 Pencil Barrel.
It sucks limiting yourself to 55gr's only.
The balance, accuracy and lightweight of a true A1 is amazing. One of my all time favorite rifles to shoot.
I wish I hadn't sold my clone :(

If they are made by someone else, they'll have to be marked as such. That really is not attention to detail.

I hope they use the fiberglass stocks.

Colt could do on volume what they could make by artificially driving prices up by keeping supply unnecessarily limited. Hopefully the powers that be will see the error of their current business model.

No. They would make far more on volume than they would through keeping prices artificially high by limited production.

If they offered these as regular items and asked, say, $600 US each, they would likely never be able to keep up with demand.

Same. Hopefully that's the one part they don't keep accurate to the original design. 1:9 or 1:7 would be awesome.

Agreed strongly, I would sell a couple rifles in a heartbeat to fund an A1 clone with a 1:9 twist pencil at that price.
Hell I'd even buy one if they went for around $1K.
Sadly you're right though, they will only produce a small run and sell them as "limited production collector item, once in 20 years/never make them again!" prices.
That's the Colt way.....

The clone I built had an original SP1 1:12 barrel from the old first civilian rifles.
It was scary accurate with bulk 55gr as long as you didn't shoot too fast and over heat the barrel.
Having a 1:9 in that configuration would have been heaven!

Anyone else wonder if they'll introduce the Model 656 with the Special Purpose Low Profile upper?
