Discuss your inaccurate guns and inferior ammo in this thread. I'll start. I was out the other day with my Cooey and shot a 2" group with crap ammo.

My 10/22 using a winchester hollow point (forgot which one it was) somehow didn't make the target when shooting 100m. It was good at 25m. It could be my scope sighting.

It was a bit windy that day too.

10/22 was all over the target at 50 yards with Bucket'o'Bullets cartridges.

Broke down the brand new 10/22 right at the bench and the factory zip ties holding the trigger group together had come undone. The factory duct tape holding the barrel to the action had also sweated loose.

Replaced the zip ties and tape with $500 of aftermarket parts and now it shoots like the 60-year-old Cooey 64 next bench over.

Ok, kidding. Sorry.

Any time I have found one of my 22's to be off it was due to user error in setting or understanding the sights or the scope.

I haven't done much shooting for groups at 50 yards with it, but my Winchester 62A pump is hard-pressed to shoot inside an inch at 25m, so 2"+ at 50m. It's a nifty gun; would be niftier if it shot better.

I bought the Norinco KKW Trainer special package from Marstar in May. Have had it out to the range several times since it arrived. Right out of the case it shot well. I have never installed the scope and only use the iron sights. This is a pic of my latest groupings at 50 metres. I was sitting and using my range bag as a rest. First grouping was low and left. The next several groupings a bit high. But all on target and fairly tight. Winchester 36 grain hollow points from a 555 round box. Zero fail to load or fire and fairly consistent.

My good 22,s shoot lots of crappie groups at 50 yds when I use CCI sv, anything Aquila is a close second. I think I can try some old bulk ammo and open up those groups some more. Maybe rabid will send me his 455 barrel so I can open them further!

My darn 10/22 can't do better than this - it is really frustrating:

Finally a competition I might win. Our range starts at 100 yards so that where my experience with my Savage Mark II takes place. With my American Eagle 22lr ($3.99 a box) I can achieve 5 inch groups. Try and beat that one.

Sorry! Already sold to Elimsprint. You coulda used Center-X outta that thing and got 2.8" groups at 50 yards!

Damn! My 455 came close at 4.1" for 50 shots with Thunderturds at 100 yards!

I bought myself a Savage reading Internet stories of how accurate they can be for a budget 22 and hoping I could get in on the 50m challenge. So far after trying about a 12+ brands and types of ammo the best it is capable of seems to be 5 into an inch at 50m. Most of the bulk/regular stuff shoots 10 into about 2". That's not too terrible for an inexpensive 22 definitely minute of grouse/rabbit but kind of a letdown after all the Savage hype I read on the Internet. :(

I feel the same way about my CZ 455. The Savage I bought on the other hand is currently my best shooting gun and slays the 1/2" challenge. Seems like luck of the draw with these brands. Have you tried any SK or Lapua ammo in it yet?

It might be luck of the draw. In the 1/2" challenge, there are some 13 CZ shooters who have done it, while there are only five Savage shooters to have sealed the deal. Perhaps there are simply a lot more CZ shooters in Canada than Savage users. I have had a CZ 455 that would not shoot worth a hill of beans until it was threatened (by me) and worked over (by RFC guru djdilliodon) until it shot as it should. I haven't tried the challenge with it yet, but it's on my list of rifles with which I want to try.

No I haven't tried SK or Lapua they are on my try list along with Aguila I'll keep looking for that 'One Load to Rule Them All' for my Savage. It really seems like it wants to shoot, I still haven't (completely) given up hope on it. Although I did snag the nice Leupold 2-7x28 rim fire scope off of it for my Henry 22 mag and demote the Savage to a Tasco 4x.

The less zoom the tougher it is. I like 18x as a minimum for target shooting. My Savage shoots just about any mid grade ammo under 1 inch but it took SK and lapua ammo to beat the challenge. Mixed results with rws club and target rifle. Good lot bad lot.

My Cz 453 does 5 shot 1.25 inch groups @ 100 yards with WW old stock power points.
Old stock PP do .4-.6 inch at 50 yards. New stock PP in the nice plastic boxes do 2 inch groups@ 50 yards!
Always by lots of Ammo if you find a good lot number. As shown not all lot numbers are equal!
My Browning T bolt Japanese made loves old stock PP and CCI velocitors. Doing 59 yard groups of .5 inch.
American Eagle is also a reliable accurate performer in all my rifles.
Other Ammo various Rem. Fed. And WW shoots .8-2.5 inch groups. I am willing to try different Ammo until I hit on one or two good ones. Then I buy a large amount of that lot number to shoot gophers.

My Rossi 37 pump. I love her and she never jams except when a sweet little blonde put a round in backwards thru the loading tube. It's not a tack driver with 3-4" groups at 50 yards but it's my favorite gun and has seen more than 30000 rounds. Mostly federal bulk junk but cci is the highest grade ammo it has ever seen. Someday ill stoke it with eley and see what it can do. Pumps are a ##### over bags

I bought about 25 boxes of different ammo, mostly different brands of target stuff when I bought a new Browning T-bolt.
Just a reasonable 22 Sporter to have in the cabinet, but I wanted one that was reasonably accurate for general "around the farm" use.

Eley Ten-X and Midas M were very good. The big surprise was CCI Green Tag. All the rest was later donated to
a local teenager for plinking tins cans ... including some fairly expensive stuff that didn't shoot too impressively, and certainly not indicative of
it's cost. Never tried the cheap stuff.
