2000-3000$ scope, what would you buy?

I have Razor HD binos and a Viper HD spotting scope and have been very impressed so far. I will steer clear of the cheaper scopes but in the $2-3000 range, I would think the Razor's are pretty good. Lots of guys in the PRS series in the states are running them and having good success. And those guys shoot LOTS!

For your budget, I would hold out for a used S&B or the Nightforce of your choice.

Stay away from IOR!!! Their scopes are garbage and their Canadian distributor is even worse. I bought a used 3-18x42 here on the EE, after shooting it the reticle went fuzzy. The distributor did anything he could not to help me out and succeed. I don't want to hijack but PM me if you want to know more

Thanks for all the replies folks.

I'll have a closer look at the ATACR but I'll also be doing it with an eye to see just how much better they are than the ERS. In terms of features they are quite similar.

I completely forgot that Burris and Steiner are now Stoeger. I haven't had the best dealings with Stoeger in the past.

I have the ERS, XRS, and ATACR, and S&B..... ATACR is better than bushnell, but if you could get one for 1500$ish there's absolutely nothing wrong with them.

I suppose another question is if your looking for First focal plane or 2nd.

Oh dear god - don't start that debate!!!!!!

It is an important question, that I'm sure at some point will have me posting the pics of my XRS/ERS reticles and how the edges of them disappear at full magnification in order to quell the barrage of people telling me I don't know what I'm talking about.......

Scratch my last post, I just read you are looking for a FFP scope.

I don't see how everyone can be recommending the 5-25x56 ATACR at that price point then... Those scopes are well over $3000.

Too many anecdotes in this thread trying to discredit certain manufacturer's or models.

Razor isn't out of your budget, I was able to pick one up for the upper end of your budget pre-tax.

Two Vortex Viper PST 6 - 24 X 50mm scopes had serious internal moisture and fogging issues at our Provincial Precision Rifle championships a couple weeks ago.
Poured rain pretty much all day Saturday, then was hot and muggy Sunday. Could see beads of moisture inside my partners scope.another competitor had the same issue.you could barely see through the top half of the reticle.

No other scopes had any issues at the match.

I have been debating purchasing a Viper 20 - 60 X 80mm spotting scope, but after this I am rethinking purchasing anything Vortex.

The Vortex Viper spotting scopes and Binoculars are made in Japan, not the Philippines like the Viper scopes.

I just purchased a Vortex Razor AMG for $3249 Canadian plus tax. Could've gotten the Gen II Razor HD for $2849.

These are in your price range so you should see if you can find a decent deal out there.

I am also curious about the AMG, but for Nightforce money I'd pass. For the same price the Razor Gen II has more features than the AMG that I would be interested in.
