Robarms XCR FAQ post

Have any of you guys tried the Gen 2 Press Check Ventures .50 beowulf mags? I picked one up the other day and it fits snug in my pre-keymod 5.56 XCR, but a bit too snug. Would I need to shave a bit of the spine off of the mag to make it drop free?

EDIT: After double checking and fiddling with the mag, it appears to be snug at every side; guess I can live with that.

sup fellas. What kind of optics you guys running with these days? I got a vortex strike eagle on mine now- looking to possibly upgrade to a nightforce sometime in the near future. The 2.5-10x looks like a dandy.
 
I used to have an Eotech on mine but I changed to Aimpoint Mico H1 to lighten it up. The XCR is already a bit heavy so any little bit helps...

Must be the gun, My Gen2 XCR-L fits them fine. I have about 15 of those mags and they all fit. Try them with 14 rounds instead of 15. Maybe they are tight when overloaded.

The mags fit perfectly fine even at 15; I was just wondering if they dropped free for anyone else. Like drop from the magwell without having to yank the mag out.

What do you guys use to get into the gas tube? Mine is not open ended. The gas setting dial is on one end and the open hole on the other is where the piston slides into. Normally I have seen guys run bore snakes through their gas tube but like I said mine isnt open ended.

Any suggestions?

Damn..already cleaning?
I have mine over 5k rounds.
The only cleaning I've done to it is a few shot with hoppe 9 into the receiver.

Yeah why not? Keep the gun in good condition? The only thing that really gets dirty from what I have seen is the piston. I am generally shooting federal 55grain ammo. Could that be why?

FMJs are potentially dangerous especially in icy winter conditions where they can ricochet off frozen lakes, rocks and trees. So I don't use them other than target shooting with a backstop. They aren't very good as a hunting round anyways.

I haven't seen a specific law prohibiting FMJ for hunting however I haven't looked at every Prov.
