The Boyds bottom metal is crap.
The Boyd's 'tacticool' is now the Pro Varmint. Order direct from Boyd's.
DIP sells the bottom metal with action screws that you'll need to go from plastic to wood stock. Can get it from midway too, since you'll be in the US. The Boyds bottom metal is crap.
Boyds bottom metal?
I'll be in Florida in October so I'll locate a local dealer and save on shipping. Thanks
Great, except it's illegal for you to take gun parts out of the USA.

Boyds bottom metal?
Boyds supplies a bottom metal with their stocks? Why would they do that? Most people are tempted to upgrade the existing Savage bottom metal with something else, such as DIP.Its better then the plastic savage stock! lol!
It does bend easily, just don't over tighten.

thats not true.
only certain parts are illegal to export, youd have to check BAFTA to see which items and companies are cleared and honestly since Boyd's ships to Canada already they are exempt.
your looking more so at optics and caliber exchange kits and such that are not cleared.

case in point, i want to get some sights for my gun and emailed the maker this week, he emailed back that they currently can not ship to Canada but they are in the process of getting their clearance so they can, they just have to submit the stuff they want to export and Homeland has to decide if exporting it would be a danger to them if it where to come back at them in the wrong hands.
its just paperwork and time - thats why a lot of companies havnt done it yet.

You are totally wrong. Boyd's can export to Canada because they went through the hoops for ITAR approval. It's no problem for them to ship a stock to you here in Canada because they have the "export" authority but you can't have one shipped to a US border post office and bring it across the border yourself as you don't have ITAR export authority.
you might be right.
while ive gone down to the states a hundred times and brought back stuff every time and declared it at the border - that was with our customs guys and they dont give a rip.
getting caught by the americans taking something out i suspect would put you on the naughty list.
i find it strange that they care so much about stuff going out.
reminds me of the 460Rowland conversion kits.
for a while there they where shipping to canada.
then they stopped and no longer do it.
they had been shipping without jumping through the hoops on their side.
