I am searching the net looking for a place to buy a muzzle break for a Savage FV-SR 1/2 28 thread and a taticool stock?
Thanks for the help.

Regarding the stock, you can get a Canadian dealer to order one in for you. Mystic Precision, for example, is a Boyds dealer. You can also order it from Boyds directly.

You can get a "muzzle control compensator" for a FV SR (a brake) from Kinney's shooting supply in the U.S. They ship to Canada quickly and reasonably.

like mentioned above, order from Boyd's.
only time its cheaper to get it through Mystical or any other place is if they are doing up a big order AND the stock you want has a lot of add on's.

i talked to Jerry already before i got mine and that was what he said if memory serves me correctly.

The Boyd's 'tacticool' is now the Pro Varmint. Order direct from Boyd's.

Factory changes has a pretty good wait on it... About a month an a half wait, mine will be here in just a few more days!

DIP sells the bottom metal with action screws that you'll need to go from plastic to wood stock. Can get it from midway too, since you'll be in the US. The Boyds bottom metal is crap.

Boyds bottom metal?

Its better then the plastic savage stock! lol!

It does bend easily, just don't over tighten.

Great, except it's illegal for you to take gun parts out of the USA.

thats not true.
only certain parts are illegal to export, youd have to check BAFTA to see which items and companies are cleared and honestly since Boyd's ships to Canada already they are exempt.
your looking more so at optics and caliber exchange kits and such that are not cleared.

case in point, i want to get some sights for my gun and emailed the maker this week, he emailed back that they currently can not ship to Canada but they are in the process of getting their clearance so they can, they just have to submit the stuff they want to export and Homeland has to decide if exporting it would be a danger to them if it where to come back at them in the wrong hands.
its just paperwork and time - thats why a lot of companies havnt done it yet.

Boyds supplies a bottom metal with their stocks? Why would they do that? Most people are tempted to upgrade the existing Savage bottom metal with something else, such as DIP.

Well its not "supplied' its an additional cost and parts order... Don't forget it when you are ordering your stock! They do that because most rim fires like savage include the plastic trigger guard attached to the stock... Thus leaving you with no mag metal and no trigger guard/bottom metal.... So they made some to fit.

You are totally wrong. Boyd's can export to Canada because they went through the hoops for ITAR approval. It's no problem for them to ship a stock to you here in Canada because they have the "export" authority but you can't have one shipped to a US border post office and bring it across the border yourself as you don't have ITAR export authority.

I said it's illegal for YOU (directed at trout79 because he said he was going to look for a dealer in Florida) to take gun parts out of the US. As a Canadian, you (or me) can not buy and take parts out of the USA. Companies can do it once they have the export permits and licences in place. But YOU as an individual, can not legally buy parts in the US and bring them home. And before someone jumps in and says they have done it, that doesn't make it legal.

ITAR controls rifles, handguns and related parts.
https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/de...rm,-gun,-handgun,-rifle,-shotgun,-pistol,-etc.

Shotguns and related parts are covered by different legislation.

Buy your parts from a company that has the export licences in place, like Boyd's or Brownells, and you are good.

MIDWAY will not sell or ship gun parts to Kanada, I talked to power customs the other day as I dropped and lost a flat washer to my trigger kit.
The owner told me that Homeland talked to him the other day and issued a warning if he continues he will be fined or shut down.

He doesn't want to risk being jailed/fined for shipping direct to Kanada. He asked me to order from Brownells

you might be right.
while ive gone down to the states a hundred times and brought back stuff every time and declared it at the border - that was with our customs guys and they dont give a rip.
getting caught by the americans taking something out i suspect would put you on the naughty list.
i find it strange that they care so much about stuff going out.

reminds me of the 460Rowland conversion kits.
for a while there they where shipping to canada.
then they stopped and no longer do it.
they had been shipping without jumping through the hoops on their side.

When you say our customs guys don't give a rip it's only because they believe that everything you are bringing in is in accordance with our import regulations. Canadian import regulations and US export regulations are totally different and have no bearing on each other. Canadian import regulations allow 5000 rounds of ammo per person but you better not get caught on the US side with 1 small box of ammo that you just purchased.

Occasionally the US guys will do Export Control and stop cars approaching Canada Customs and ask a few innocent questions about your US visit and purchases. If you happened to have some ammo you just purchased or that Boyd's stock you just picked up, you won't be going home that day and you won't be going back to the US for quite some time, if ever.....
They play it really seriously. There's quite a few guys that have found out the hard way.....
