GP 11 is back in production fellas!

Depends how much the military ordered. I'm sure the quantity ordered would take into consideration use per year over the shelf life and some extras in case. if use is less than expected, there should be surplus, if not....

I don't think they would even bother to restart up or even do a new production run unless it was in the 10's of thousands of rounds. They still have lots on 7.5x55mm GPMG's in service and Stgw.57's (which was in Swiss army service until the mid 1990's) in reserve war stock that they need to have a ready supply of reliable ammo for.

I would think a production run would be at least a million rounds?

Considering how much the army shoots the production sure is in the millions.

So far the MG51 is still in use on vehicles as a coax gun. Use as a GPMG was stopped 10 years ago because it's too heavy for that role.

All Stgw 57's are gone from army stocks, thanks god.

The PE57 is making a comeback as a popular rifle for civilian shooting after the SSV rules were relaxed to allow the installation of aftermarket sights on them. I actually liked shooting it and found it to be very accurate. They are not fun to shoot beside though...
