Nice rifles guys !
I also like the newer *synthetic* stuff but you gotta love the more classics looking rifles !

Canadiankeeper;
Good afternoon to you sir, I trust this finds you doing acceptably well on this second last Saturday of the month.

It's interesting to see the trends and directions that the current generation of coyote hunters is going - and it's encouraging for a semi-old guy like me to see the next shift enthusiastic about it all too.:cool

This is a scan of an old school long range coyote bomber built in the early '90's and sorta typical of what you might find then. It's built on a military 98 action, much modified Model 70 stock, Timney trigger, Douglas Premium Air gauged No 4 contour, 1:14", 26" barrel and chambered for .22-250AI.

That's with home made snow camo too as there was none back in those primitive times!

Here's stock number two on it, this time a reworked S&W - Howa short action stock that was cracked when I bought it for $20 at the Penticton gun show years later. The guy would only sell it to me for that if I agreed to tell him how I was going to fix it - so I did and he kept his end of the bargain up as well.

This is the coyote rifle in waiting, since as mentioned I'm not getting any younger and frankly dragging a 12lb rifle around the local mountains doesn't appeal that much to me anymore. It's a slightly reworked and painted Ruger American in .223 with a 1:8" barrel.

No local dogs have met their untimely demise in front of the Ruger as yet, which reminds me we've really got to get out and call a few more times as they're quite talkative this time of year.

Thanks for the thread and thanks again to the folks who've participated, its grand to see other folks sharing the passion for chasing coyotes.

Now that's a moustache......

Its all most the prime time! Crops come down soon! What do you guys have waiting ?

My Remington SPS tactical (20" barrel) .223 in a Magpul stock with a Bushnell elite 10x fixed.

Sighted in, an absolute tac driver. Ready and waiting!

This is going to be my main rifle this year for yotes. Got these two lil guys yesterday with a buddy. Had a itch I just had to scratch. :)

Not into coyote hunting, although I did pop one years ago that was badly infected with mange. Been thinking about taking it up, though, there's lots around here.

In which case I'd put this puppy to work. Rem. 700 BDL 25.06 Varminter, with HS Precision stock, Williams bottom metal, Leupold VX-II 6-18x40 AOL, Signature rings, Leupold Weaver style steal bases, Timney trigger, Harris bipod, with target crown cut and all metal refinished by Martini Gun Makers.

It shoots pretty good with Fusion 120s...

I'm jelly of you guys out west. No caliber limit. Also calling works well out there... Here in SWO, they need to be pushed. If its more then 1 hour past sun up or more then 1 hour till sundown you can all most step on the damn yotes. They don't move for anything!

Still doesn't stop me. lol

No jelly of you guys in PEI hahaa, we have open season on yotes all year around. No tags, no bag limit.

Mind you the corn being up is not very helpful so summer months and early fall are pretty much a write off.

Yea, makes no sense, they're not even native to PEI. I assume they don't want the redneck rural islanders to be seen hunting while the granola munching tourists are around with fat wallets.
Ontario has a calibre limit too?? PEI it's .22cal centerfire, and anything goes for rimfire(at least any of the common ones)
Fox on the other hand, has a 17cal centerfire limit... because we have idiots writing regulations.

nothing over .270 for us... So 22-250 is a popular choice and ovb .270

This one fell to a plain olde A-Bolt sporter in 22-250 topped with a Leupold 2-7. Perfect little combo for a walkabout rifle.

This buck fell to the same rifle.

Rem 700 SPS Tac .223, MDT chassis, Trigger Tech trigger, 4-16x50 PST FFP that would like to replace with the new NF ATACR 4-16x50 once they become available, and thinking about getting a JC Custom barrel built for it some day, but for this season will be used as is.
