Let's see your C7 clones! (and C8 clones too, I guess...)

Lol, they sold out on the first day, I'm surprised Rebel Rouser didn't pick them all up just for the uppers. They were an alright price weren't they?

I think Rebel Rouser has had new uppers and lowers in his collection at some time. Probably not too worried about the used and abused like the rest of us that don't have the knowledge or connection he has.

Still I can't wait for my CQB upper to show up so I can change out the Colt Defence/Diemaco clone I've built. We'll see how bad those barrels are I guess in a few days. Couldn't beat the price.

Now to find a 14.5" Diemaco barrel!

Nice clones! Can I ask a question though, and I don't mean to be snide or anything, but a lot of folks seem to be going with the thermold mags for their clones. Are the shiny black STANAG mags hard to source? I have a few dozen pmags so I never checked

And are the newer Thermolds better than the original CF-issue ones that fell apart?

Does anyone have or know where you could find the size and placement of the rollmarks on the C7/C8 lowers. Just in case say a friend of mine wanted to replicate one.

I am trying to replicate the size and placement of the M16A1 rollmarks and it has taken forever to get something close. It isn't as easy as measuring a current lower receiver I'll tell you that. In the U.S there is a whole network of people and businesses that specialize in this. In Canada, zero as far as I can tell.

If anyone could help me out please PM me.

Don't have the exact measurements, but some probably eye-ball with images like these:

I just use the garbage thermolds for pictures. Same reason others use the garbage accessories lol. Just for looks.

Haha, okok, I understand now. I have the triad rail and folding grip on my personal SA20, mostly for the authentic look, but none of our C7s have the folding grip, and the first and only service rifle match I tried out in, everyone told me to yank the triad to lighten the rifle as much as I could.

D&H black teflon mags are what you seek. They are the sole supplier to the CF. I've seen grey teflon ones with Diemaco floor plates as well.

It's only the maple leaf therm olds that suck. Actually I never had issues personally but a lot of feed lips cracked in the cold. Someone in the CF changed the spec for the plastic used, not sure why, but it didn't hold up as good as the original ones. They were never able to overcome the damage done to their reputation.

So going back to the clone that's for sale... The lower has a fake auto sear pin to give it a more realistic look BUT the receiver is drilled all the way through
and there is actually a pin installed. In the eyes of our laws, does this make it a FA lower? As I understand it, if a hole is drilled through the receiver
like this in the US, its considered a FA lower by the ATF, even if its not in the exact location or the correct diameter.

Had a bit of sun a few weeks ago and snapped a few shots of the SA20:

Not really a C8 'clone' per se, more my ideal version of a C8. Not really a fan of the triad, the cadex vertical grip, or the issue Elcan, so didn't try to replicate those. Went with the optic I prefer, and an old-school piece of lightweight aluminum rail on the handguard to provide a point to mount a light. Shown with my IUR enhanced rifle, just because :)

Nope,

Your not out of your tree. Our cost on a BFG from Colt Canada is well over 300 bills.
I have way too many of them, so time to thin the flock.

I suppose that's fair.

I looked at Colt USA f/a BCGs through IRG and after the exchange, tax and shipping it worked out to about $260 CAD or so. For an extra $30 to get the Colt Canada f/a BCG would appeal to the collector/completist.

There are probably other differences between the Colt Canada BCGs and the US made ones.

I'd spring for one, but no moolah right now so I'll probably miss the sale.
