Shadow 2 REVIEW, unpacking, initial thoughts (very pic heavy)

and, if the hammer is cocked (like you could in Standard or Open) you MUST use the safeties when holstering. But for PD decocked, nope, as Bob says.

That's what I wanted to know, thanks. Hammer cocked, safety on. Decocked no safety required.....

So a flush safety makes sense in that regard- not going to use it anyway, so keep it out of the way! :)

As for other parts, I'd still recommend the 11.5lb hammer spring from Cajun Gun Works, and an 11lb recoil.
I could be wrong, but I do not believe that Cajun Gun Works ships to Canada as they don't want the hassle of the 'end user agreement' that they must deal with to export parts over $100. I will contact them again, but I am sure that I had a confirmation that they do not ship to Canada. Your options for CZ parts are here in Canada, or CZ Custom which charge a fortune for shipping($35-45) for a couple springs.

I usually carry CGW stuff when I'm home, but will likely be bringing back a bunch for factory springs next week.
CZ Custom only charges a ton for shipping if you don't ask for them to ship US post parcel. For springs they will throw in an envelope too

And the sp01 parts all fit in the shadow 2?

I don't imagine cz custom has any shadow 2 labelling yet... Just want to be sure

springs yes, things like left side safety and slidestop, no, those are 2 specific (pun not intended)

That is VERY TRUE! I am going to add this in my review as well. The reason for this is that if you view them side by side, looking at the hammer down, or muzzle up, you will notice that the frame of the Shadow 2 is thicker, which contributes to its massive weight. Some parts will fit, but things that rely on the frame thickness such as safetys/slide stops will not.

Abb1 there is such a thing as asking too many questions regarding CGW

As for the differences in the frame measurements, yes, that was all covered in both my threads from IWA and Extreme Euro back in March and May of this year.

It's hard to miss with this pistol, even in DA :)

And the SA trigger is so nice and light I accidentally double tapped twice with the first magazine. haha

Really a fan of this handgun so far.

I have added to the review. To my disappointment, I tried to change the hammer spring to a 13 lb figuring that this would lighten the DA pull. It made absolutely no difference in SA or DA. This was confirmed by my gauge. If you are to lighten the pull by changing the spring, you would have to go with either a 10 or 11 lb spring. Unfortunately, these are not that easy to come by, and it would also be recommended to change the firing pin spring to avoid the possibility of light strikes with hard primers.

This seems odd to me. I received mine today and first thing I did was change the mainspring/hammer spring. I gauged the original DA pull at approx 9.5 lbs and the SA at 4ish lbs. I installed a 13lb mainspring I had from CZ Custom and it brought my DA pull down to approx 6.5 - 7 lbs and SA to 3 - 3.5 lbs.

This is what everyone experiences except him. LOL

i emailed cz and they said shadow 2 comes with 17 lb spring from factory. don't like the pull on the double action. where does one get a hammer spring from in canada?

I got to try mine out on Saturday. Put 100 rounds through her. It's heavy. Period. But recoil is very manageable. Very accurate. Cycles beautifully. I love the oversized mag release. The DA pull is very long and it's heavy. I may look into a lighter hammer spring. SA trigger is sweeeeettt!! And that reset.......heavenly. I put an Apex kit into my M&P and thought that was a great reset. This one rivals that. And right out of the box!

Break down is typical CZ. Easy. Cleaning is very easy too. Again, typical. So, I was using 115gr ammo. I'll look into 124gr and see if it's any better. I can't say that I like the sights. Maybe it's my "old" eyes. I've become accustomed to large three dot Novack style sights. With this, the front red sight is small. And there's no reference dots on the rear. So for me, I don't like the combination. I won't be changing out the safety to the over sized one that is included. I like the standard sized one.

Some people have reported their off hand getting blisters (?). I fail to see where this would come from. I only had a half an hour to spend at the range, so I worked quickly. But my off hand was very comfortable.

I look forward to some more time with it and some different kinds of ammo. Next on the list will be a holster.

I received the 13lb spring from Wolverine. I thought it was odd that it was advertised with firing pin spring and all I got was a main spring in a plastic baggie with no info. I mentioned to this to them that it also makes no difference in my trigger pull which I have used a gauge on, and I think that they sent me the wrong spring, as they say that they have sent me a new one with firing pin spring. We will see what happens.

Just installed my 13lb hammer spring, from Select Shooting Supplies. The trigger pull is awesome now. I also installed a 13lb recoil spring. Do I need to make other changes with the firing pin/spring because of that or should I be good to go? Generally just use blazer ammo 115gr or 124gr. Basically what ever I can find in my small town.

11lb recoil is a better setup as well as an 11.5lb hammer spring. But depending on your ammo you might need the 13lb hammer spring
