Angus......flew into one stone sheep hunt in a radial 265 Hp Wilga. One of the operators in the Yukon used to own one, he was the only guy that would land on certain lakes. Outstanding pilot and a really nice performing aircraft.
Phil.........I bought most of my powder at WSS in Calgary and Edmonton, every time I went south, I'd stock up. That was back when a guy could buy 5 or 6, 8 Lbrs and it was all in stock..........back in the days of...."Yes sir, how many would you like" as opposed to "Check back in six months, we may have a couple pounds by then". Now I buy a pound here and a pound there when I come across it for a not too bad price, and just throw it in the big jugs and shake it well. I did once upon a time, hear of a primer shortage and severe price increase, so I bought every primer in Whitehorse. I also made a good deal with Brian in Faro one time and took 10,000 Fed 215s he had from an ordering mistake.

You'll like her, the extra power and slightly improved aerodynamics make for a pretty aggressively performing little puddle hopper.
Mine was built by EADS in 2001 just an updated version but same airframe you flew, Lycoming K1B5 (300hp). Douglas is a pilot and as part of his SOMA resume survived a crash, that's one SOMA badge I hope to avoid! Fifteen years airborne this year and still good. We should go make some splashes late next summer Douglas, lot of good little fishing lakes in the mountains your way with no other way in. Trade you for a ride in one of the toys.
That picture is Ft. Langley, isn't it? I learned to fly floats (Supercub) with Dave Hamel out of that float base.

I don't have too much to add to this thread, but I will say that at 41 I am just starting to see the fruits of my labor to the point where almost nothing within reason is impossible.......
Having made some choices in life I don't regret that kept me from filling a niche and working hard, I was resigned to just the working hard part...... mostly based on geography.......
Totally respect what you did Douglas, and it's nice to see that you are enjoying the rewards and had some time along the way to create experience and memory...... you can't take it with you after all....

I was sure I recognized her. Beautiful lines. I used to fly out of Pitt Meadows with my brother as he was building his hours and ratings, spent hours poking around the field.
