You know, someone should make a copy paste for every time this comes up. I'd like to see CC do it themselves, but they don't have a civilian marketing department/person, so I am not counting on them.
Why Colt Canada? Lets define the requirement:
-Do you prefer Canadian built?
-How accurate do you really need to be?
-What are your expectations for reliability?
And yes:
-How much money are you willing to spend?
While most Canadians would likely prefer to buy from a Canadian manufacturer, they won't at any cost.
Locally very few people will shoot their rifles beyond 200m. Does it really matter if their rifle is 2-4 MOA capable, versus 1-2MOA capable? Not really, especially when people will typically run whatever cheapest ammo they can find anyways.
If all you are doing is shooting groups, at best, or plinking, at worst, why would you really care about reliability? It's not like mismatched parts are going to costs you points on the match, or potentially your life.
We saw the 6920 go from unobtanium and $2500 not that long ago, to absolutely astonishing low prices and readily available. The prices are going back up due to the dollar, but a 6920 is still almost half of a Colt Canada rifle. As much as I love my CC stuff, I don't see a C8 being twice the rifle a 6920 is.
So in the end a CC rifle isn't that great a value, but it does have it's place. I do wish CC would get their civilian sales and marketing out of its ass, but at this point I have given up.
