Looking for a break action side-by-side 12GA with short barrels (around 12.5" or so long) and preferably with a single trigger. Does such a thing exist?

I could get you a 20" Fabarm, O/U, 12 ga single trigger, ejector model for about $1000.

Jesus H Christ. Are you guys dense? I didn't insult anyone or anyone's guns. I objected to them insulting me and others who like traditional SxS
I'm only one person... And no, I don't consider myself dense. I haven't insulted you at all, relax.
And for clarity sake, that's not really an alternate definition. Fudd has a pretty specific meaning.
Where is it you're getting your definitions from. If it's just your personal opinion, I have stated mine and I suppose we'll have to agree to disagree.

Their

And it's not elitist if they think the other guys guns are useless if they are actually useless...
I caught the error. Thanks.

It seems you and I have a different opinions also. I've got more gun in hand time than 99% of guys out there. During my tenure as a wild life monitior I carried a short 12 gauge. Why? 12 gauge was what was required, number one. Number two, it was lighter and SHORTER, when you're in and out of helicopters, small planes and packing a gun for hours on end its nice to have a shorter, lighter gun.
As I said before I've shot much game with various short shotguns also... Always did the trick.
Not fitting into some peoples narrow view? Yes. Useless? I think not.

Do you think you're being clever? Do you think, in the context of the previous series of posts, your comment isn't obviously seen (and was meant to be seen) as an insult directed at me and other SxS enthusiasts.

Here's an insult. Not only are you dense but you don't actually have the balls to own up to your own comments and their intent.

Go ahead, state your personal opinion. Doesn't stop you from being wrong. "I think the moon is made of cheese."

After 10 years on this site following the progress or lack thereof in changing our gun laws for the better, it would be clear to anyone what the generally accepted meaning of the term Fudd is.

Personally I think it would be better applied to anyone with their head so far up their ass that they choose to attack other gun owners because they shoot a different style of gun....or fail to defend other gun owners from antis for the same reasons. But hey, that's just me. An elitist who shoots "douchy" guns.

You need to relax... I said nothing of you or your guns being douchy. Nor have I attacked you because of your choice in firearms. Step away from the key board and chill Winston.

And just for the record my favourite shotgun that I own is a SXS... But alas it's to pretty to beat the crap out off.

You implied I'm an elitist and you implied I think anything but a traditional SxS is "useless". You are making common cause with the others who have been insulting us with no basis in fact. Stop doing that and I'll chill.

Also used as a term for elitists that think their guns are cool but other guys guns are "useless". Same diff I suppose.
You'll note the quote below yours is the post You speak of... It doesn't name you or even mention SXS shotguns. Again, chill and step away from the key board.

I guess I don't follow posts where the term is used. Now I know.

Thanks

Yeah, everyone is just so AWESOME on the Internets. If you actually ever were a "wild life monitior" (sic) you'd think that at least you'd know how to spell the word.

When people start lipping off about "a poor craftsman blames his tools" and prattle on about 12" H&H shotguns it's pretty clear they are out of their depth in a discussion about shotguns.

I know lot's of people with lot's of "gun time in hand" that still don't have a clue what they're talking about ...........

The people that shoot hand thrown or portable machine thrown clay targets, and then tell us about their "skeet" shooting are prime examples.Or the people that shoot paper targets, or bottles/cans with their tactical shotguns, and then proceed to tell other people how to shoot birds on the wing.

They don't give out spelling or grammar tests in the oil and gas industry. Sorry to disappoint you. I'll email you pictures if you have doubts. We aren't all hard as f@ck LEOs out there on the mean streets, clay. Relax. You take yourself far too seriously.

That's right. A poor craftsman blames his tools.

IT WAS A JOKE!!! Nobody with any sense is going to order a $60,000+ shotgun when they could get the same thing made in China for $300. See that was another joke, or was it?

Seriously, you guys don't like guns outside of your window. We get it... just scroll though and move on. The insults, name calling and nose looking down get tiring. You guys act like little children yet think your some sort of special uppercrust clsss.

It has been my experience that most of the "gun snobs" are usually the guys that spend countless hours on the internet trying to explain how their Norinco/Armscor/whatever are as good or better than a more expensive gun and how wonderful they perform with at least 250 rounds downrange. I personally don't give the North end of a Southbound rat what brand someone is shooting as long as they are enjoying themselves.

That being said, when someone asks for my input into what brand they should buy for a given shooting sport I tend to mention those brands that have proven track records.

I'm beginning to understand the old saying "me thinks thou doth protest too much " .

As to the OP's original post (you all remember that, right), I haven't a clue.

Today's sage advice: When you're frustrated with someone; take a deep breath and count to ten, but throw a punch at eight, because no one expects you to punch them at eight !

I've seen gun snobs around enough trap ranges to get a true understanding and I'm not centering out anyone nor picking on trap shooters. However they do follow a similar suit. Older gentleman shooting beautiful ou or single barrel guns with high vent ribs of various makers which cost above $2500. Often considerably more. When I shot a lot of trap I was younger. Comments like "Field guns have no place on a trap Line". "Look he brought grandpa's old sxs Clunker". "I'm not shooting on his squad he's not a trap Shooter". Being in my early 20s then wearing expensive designer jeans and a leather jacket with a ball cap and sunglasses sporting new shoes I agree I didn't look the part. I let the comments slide. I let the score card do the talking.
Now I'm in my 30s. I enjoy a wide variety of guns and am proud to belong to a club with like minded shooters. There's still the trap guys and the pistol guys and the ar guys but we all get along. The thing I'm most proud about my club is when a new shooter comes by and asks a question or for help damn near everyone around offers a hand. I've been handed a Holland and Holland royal to try. A rare offer by any means. There's a group of young guys who shoot skeet with bolt action guns at my club. They smash targets to and have fun doing it. There's usually some new toy to be passed around for others to try. I've handed off a dual pistol gripped mossberg pump and was handed a perazzi to try. That's the way all clubs should be in my mind.
I can't afford my buddies HH but god I want to own it. There's been times in my life where I settled and didn't take risks. Maybe I was even lazy. I've had a great life so far even though I can't afford the best or nicest guns I have a nice collection. Owning such high end guns would not make me an elitest. It means I have good taste and appreciate real craftsmanship and quality. If i could buy my buddies Holland and Holland royal I wouldn't stop using my baikal or my mossbergs. It would simply add to the variety of guns I could shoot

For the record canvasback you have posted some gorgeous guns on here and I think you see things the same as I do. You support all types of firearms but choose to own finer examples. Someday I hope I can have a collection of double guns as nice as yours plus some fun guns to play with.
This has been a long post so I'm going to finish my glass of ardbeg and mop up what's on the floor.

Ps I know I am a horrible speller.
