Sorry to the vendor and buyers, this really sucks. Sadly, aside from those that have a serious stake in this outcome, little will be done due to our Canadian disease of letting ourselves get pushed around with minimal push-back. Several angry posts on a gun owners board and "maybe" a small numbers petition to follow will have no impact on these arbitrary decisions.I doubt that we will, but we really need to toughen up if we want any kind of influence on the system.

The other option to toughening up is to modify our approach.
 
So if anyone else swaps out the beaver barf for wood then their guns are also prohibited?
Or do they also have to be inscribed with "ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ"?
I'm just trying to understand Canada's gun laws...
Seriously, I think some more letters are needed.

Actually most of the members I know are reasonable people, far more 'us' than 'them' so to speak. They're fed up too. Many RCMP officers are taking early retirement or transferring to municipal police forces because they've had enough. The RCMP has had to drop application criteria to depot as they don't have enough people to fill the troops with cadets.

Officers above the detachment commander level though, are politicians, not police officers and don't seem to know or care what front-line members need to do their jobs or what communities need from their police force.

As far as solutions, I think joining and donating to a firearms advocacy organization in Canada for those of us who haven't already is a good first step. And, supporting companies like Wolverine who are working to bring us new and interesting firearms.

I think our biggest asset is that firearms owners and Canadians in general are very law abiding and safe. These laws do not make anyone safer, and do nothing to address real criminal behavior. Creating a new class of paper criminals is far more destructive than constructive to law and order, creating a new group of paper criminals who's only crime is having a hobby or possession that some people fear irrationally.

If you'll excuse me, I need to go order a couple of things I don't need but have been wanting for a while from wolverine.
 
So who wants to buy my wood-branding kit? It consists of one "molon labe" brand and one maple leaf brand. Patent pending. $199.99
 
I realize that this will probably garner a plethora of hate, but does anyone really think that a rifle that was previously ruled prohibited, now branded with "come and take them" in latin on their stock wasn't going to get a special look. Its time for some people to grow up.

If that branding had any effect on the classification, people should be fired, and the agency should be sued.
