its funny people mention the quality of glass in the PST.
I have a early FFP 4-16 from back when they retailed for $1000, and through the vortex dealer system i paid $280
Its been good to me, very clear, holds zero, no issues.
Recently when my friend bought his and it had all those issues, I looked through it, it was not very clear. not even remotely on par with mine... then he mounted it it and it #### the bed.
When the replacement came and it was just as fuzzy as the first (500m sign test) we went down to the store to exchange it. we looked through 3 more and they were all not clear. At $1500 we expected clear optics, hence why he returned it and bought a nightforce.
This year I found out about box tests for checking repeatability of dials.... and sure as #### my PST FFP can't pass one better than 50% of the time. lots of users said even razors sometimes fail.tat doesn't mean I can't wont use the dials... but I avoid it when ever possible now.
Point is I think this thread has lost a bit of focus
I know vortex had a lot of good years of good optics for fantastic prices.
I am intrested in is hearing about vortex purchased in the last 18 months and comparison of those same model, but older generation vortex optics I want to hear other opinions on this to see if It's just me that thinks vortex has jumped the shark, or most people with experience with vortex new and old that think so too.
(much like bushnell jumping the shark and offering optics that had visible prism break and that were dark as midnight for leupold prices around 2010 cumulating with the only viable high end optic they even offered anymore being the 6500 elite which was not on par with its similar priced competitors)
