Who is buying a Type81?

Well I'm canceling. Using the money to buy a different gun and maybe reorder in May or June. They are being produced in July so who knows how long until we get them in our hands

So do you guys think these will be delivered in 2017? It sounded like they'll just add these on to the 30k order so even if it's a few rifles they'll get done. How many preordered rifles were there?

These 30K are military spec, so the Canadian version can not be produced with the same parts or else ...... the RCMP ghost will show up.

The receivers can't be the same.

The rest of the parts such as furniture and barrels etc can be. Still easier to tag it onto the end of the military production run with minor changes to the process, than to stop and AK or Type 97 assembly run.

I wonder if there are not enough orders if they'll even think it's worth doing the canadian run. This whole process has been so poorly handled.

That is exactly what China thinks. Hence why TI needs to submit a larger order paid in full before China will start up. Thus the full price pre-orders.

I'd be very surprised if another importer doesn't get them here first. Canada Ammo is in the running but is having hiccups at the lab.

So has TI given the factory a good faith deposit? Otherwise the factory has much better things to do then jerk around with a small Canadian order?
If not will the factory want full payment before they even start production??
This whole deal about paying in full with no fixed production date is kind of shady!!!!!! especially with the latest update.

Why anyone would not ask for a refund on their deposit has me baffled?? Being this far away from possible production??
Then come June get everyone to pony up a $1,000 deposit . Then TI will know what the interest is and possibly get a larger order.
Keeping things the way they are does nothing to install confidence in TI??

Yup it appears July is "supposedly" when these will even start yo be manufactured.

So by all likelihood not till the fall/winter of 2017 IF THEN

Might be looking at a refund now

come on not you .... with all the explanation about paying now and getting latter .... i found it very ironic coming from you ....

They used several tactics to keep my order in. First being the incentives of a free magazine and a sling. Second being a $50 gift card which in my case will go towards two more magazines. Third was a scare tactic, notice at the bottom of their update they made a point of saying existing orders have the price locked in. To me that suggests they may plan on raising the price "come June" if this does truly end up being the only production for the foreseeable future. Anyways until a better option comes along it's the best shot I got at getting my hands on the gun I want, so I'll continue to play the waiting game.:bangHead:

If I had a deposit on a gun i would probably do what you are doing. My last deposit was on the Spartan 858's. and that was when they were landed in Canada.
We all know how that worked out.. I bailed as soon as the CFO got involved
Hate to be a Debbie Downer but with these tied into a military contract run I can see these been given a second look!!

I was thinking about jumping in a week before this announcement...

Not happening. I'll buy something that is available to me right away like ammo :p

Right. But the point some one was trying to make was that if north Sylva took over the quality would some how be questionable on the type 81 because some type 97 had a barrel gouge.

Which is a huge leap.

I see what you mean. northsylva is likely behind all this and I think we will be seeing more than a barrel gouge and out of spec mag well if they ever get their hands on the t81

Because I believe this will end up being a relatively rare NR rifle and if me paying 1K helps bring these to our small market plus puts one in my hands I have no issues with that. Getting this rifles certified NR and produced in the relatively very small quantities required for our market is no easy task and those tasked with getting it done will always be sucking the hind teet from a negotiating stand-point. Short of doing all the work and taking on all the inherent risks myself I'll gladly pre-pay for the item for someone else to deal with the head-aches.

I've been waiting for that rifle since the announcement when it was in the lab , i pre-ordered the first day and i will wait. who know if you will ever see another batch of those. and at what price

I'm doing the same I will wait it out cause I want this gun but not impressed by how this has been handled so far. I also bailed on the 858 once the RCMP changed their mind but I am hopeful that this military order will get us these guns
