Rem 700 Classic 350 Rem Mag

For a lightweight and compact rifle I really like my 358 Winchester BLR '81 stainless laminate takedown. Substantial wallop with 310gr RN Woodleigh bullets at 2100 fps MV -

Is that Ruger a short action too?

It's very easy to hop on the derail train sometimes...... ;)

A rifle in 350RM and one in 6.5RM would be a pretty sweet pairing.

Lovely! I owned a M77 MKII but it was a 308. Does it have a 1:12 twist?

Yes sir.....

Excellent! So it will stabilize 310gr bullets. Nice rifles but the triggers aren't to everyone's liking. I changed mine out with a Jard trigger. Perfect! Before I sold the MkII I put the original trigger back in and kept the Jard trigger which is now in my 338 WM Hawkeye rifle.

The factory lawyer triggers are not great, but I have a modest collection of M77's and have learned how to work on them...... it's easy to get rid of the creep and lighten them while still keeping them safe.....

I'm surprised you didn't bring that one to BC...... but then again, we don't all have "weather luck"....

It hadn't arrived yet... I had your rifle at the time, and a deal to buy back my old KM77-R MKII Stainless 350 fell through when the new owner realized that he would likely regret selling as much as I regretted selling it. I was actually in the airport when I closed the deal on this one... and then waited for it to be imported. It is going out next month for a face lift.

Barnes Reloading Manual No.3 lists top velocity as 2511 fps with their 250gr bullet and 56.0 grs of IMR4064 in a 24" barrel. I suppose limitations of the short action by having to seat the bullet quite deeply.

I get excellent results with much slower burn rate Reloder17. I can seat the bullet to the neck base and safely get 2700+ fps MV (24" 1:12 twist barrel).

Just one big happy Family.
I have a Browning BLR 81 in 358win mag.
Now where can i find i nice 35 Whelen ?
I had two 7600 Carbines, one in wood the other synthetic.
Sold them both. Both wer new in box.
I should look for another Classic.
Art has a nice Classic in 35 Whelen.

Heavy game at 200m....... mmmm, Nope.
But pistol bullets in the 358win or 350RM wouldn't be ideal for that either.

Medium game under 100m, Yup!

To continue the derail ;) , the 77/357 is more for fun than anything, that was my reason for bringing it up. Although it did work great on a Buck last year.

If I'm worried about bigger or farther with a 35,.......the Whelen gets the nod.

What are the plans for it?..... as I recall you brought the coveted .358 win?
