We need to support Maxime Bernier

I just read through the thread and it seems like the middle ground is disappearing. While I certainly favour Bernier to the majority of the other "big names", I believe Michael Chong to be the best option. Take the time to research his political position, previous voting record, and past writings and I think he suits what most Conservatives are after. I believe he could also attract a good number of former Trudeau voters who are now displeased with the finances. A true fiscal conservative with socially progressive values; that I can support.

I like Andrew Scheer's platform better overall. I also think he has a better chance against Trudeau than some. Bernier was asked to step down under Harper due to a serious scandle. I'm surprised that he is back seeking office. Check out Scheer's website.
Also I believe it is now to late to buy a membership to the party? If it it isn't than do it because it is worth getting a say in our future candidate!

I think his stance is more realistic to be implemented than Bernier's. Sad to say I doubt the AR will ever get NR status. What I would like to see is a modification to the Restricted class as a compromise to include all the checks and balances it already has but remove the range only restriction. Bernier's past is going to haunt him

Cause we all want a CPC leader who loves a carbon tax and right out of the gate already wants to ban guns (AR15).

also voted for the love of islam.

I find it weird that so many people with 0 trader ratings have so much to say that is anti CPC in one form or another. Very subliminal.. Reminds me of a hypnotist repeating you are getting sleepy, you will never win......Also, I would imagine O'Leary would be happy to get elected as a MP this time around and become finance minister. Then he can judge his chances of leading the CPC in the next election. He's not that old.

What does their trader rating have to do with anything? I'm glad O'leary dropped out after his slag on the military I would hope that even if he stayed in the race; enough people would scratch him off their ballot and pretend he doesn't exist.

An active firearms purchaser/seller has more of a vested interest in the various laws affecting their sport. Otherwise, high post counts and low numbers of transactions, particularly 0 transactions indicates someone who just likes the sound of their own voice and no real investment at stake. That might not be you, but is indicative of many who fit that description.

O'leary can run as a potential MP and then be appointed as finance minister without running for party leadership. Win win if people believe he is that good with money.

Chong likely won't be chosen as cpc leader so you'll probably have to vote Liberal again in 2019.

I like a number of Mike Chong's positions on issues. I also think that with the Libs veering far Left and the NDP reacting by going even farther Left, the middle ground is up for grabs. But he's a very Red Tory and he said this:

"Proposing to make the AR-15 unrestricted — a variant of which was used at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut to kill 20 children aged 6 and 7 and six adults in 2012 — is an extreme policy"

Sorry, Mike, but no thanks. That kind of silly nonsense means that you will not be marked as any choice on my ballot. As if that lunatic at Sandy Hook couldn't have done what he set out to do with a Remington Model 8 or a baseball bat for that matter. Chong is jumping on the "blame the gun" bandwagon where he shares space with the irrational fools of the Coalition for Gun Control.
Remember, Chong lives on a farm. He says that he's very familiar with firearms, but he doesn't see why anyone "needs" an AR-15. He certainly sounds like one of those FUDDs who would throw the rest of the firearms community under the bus.
I'm all for reasonable compromise and working with others with different points of view, but I have the distinct impression that Chong would be very happy to adopt positions of people and organizations that would continue to trample on our rights and freedoms.

Chong is my MP and he would be the candidate I know the best. I have voted for him and worked on his campaigns however he isn't my preference for leader. He will be on my ballot for local political reasons but not so high that it would contribute to him winning. Chong appeals to a certain segment within the Party and it would be a mistake to rule him out entirely. He's done surprisingly well in the fundraising and if younger, ex-O'Leary supporters are put off by Bernier they might gravitate toward Chong.

The Liberals will continue to focus their 'attack' on the law abiding while the canadian criminal justice system mollycoddles violent criminals and psychos.
In canada mark lapine had he not taken his own life would probably have been released as 'cured' and out walking the streets with homulka and the bus head hunter.
