I like a number of Mike Chong's positions on issues. I also think that with the Libs veering far Left and the NDP reacting by going even farther Left, the middle ground is up for grabs. But he's a very Red Tory and he said this:
"Proposing to make the AR-15 unrestricted — a variant of which was used at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut to kill 20 children aged 6 and 7 and six adults in 2012 — is an extreme policy"
Sorry, Mike, but no thanks. That kind of silly nonsense means that you will not be marked as any choice on my ballot. As if that lunatic at Sandy Hook couldn't have done what he set out to do with a Remington Model 8 or a baseball bat for that matter. Chong is jumping on the "blame the gun" bandwagon where he shares space with the irrational fools of the Coalition for Gun Control.
Remember, Chong lives on a farm. He says that he's very familiar with firearms, but he doesn't see why anyone "needs" an AR-15. He certainly sounds like one of those FUDDs who would throw the rest of the firearms community under the bus.
I'm all for reasonable compromise and working with others with different points of view, but I have the distinct impression that Chong would be very happy to adopt positions of people and organizations that would continue to trample on our rights and freedoms.
