Who is buying a Type81?

I started saving for one when i first heard about them. Thought they would be a nice upgrade to an sks and maybe even to a vz. I thought another x39 rifle in Canada would be unobtainable. But then they were delayed....and delayed, so i kept saving....and saving. Now i almost have enough for an XCR. I don't know whether or not to lose hope on these, but i must thank TI for bringing me on this hopeful quest. Its brought me to a gun i thought would never be in my reach. But who could have guessed that it was the 3000$ XCR....

Keep saving and get the T-81 you wanted in the first place. You know you want one, or two.....

I have an XCR in 7.62x39 and it is awesome! In all honesty if you have enough for one I would bite the bullet and get it. Who knows how long these type 81 will take you might have enough saved after getting the XCR to get the 81 when they finally do arrive.

Reading over what's been posted by TI, it seems to me like this is going to end one of three ways. #1: No guns with a hasty scramble to get the money back together to refund folks. #2: Guns with very shoddy QC that people will piss and moan about, but will increase in price anyways because it looks similar to an AK. #3: Seized by the RCMP (CZ Spartan ordeal all over again).

The Chinese military will be re-arming their service rifles with a new unannounced modular rifle. We have been told that the factory (among others) will only producing rifles for the re-armament for next 2-3 years, then you can imagine the backlog of orders to fulfill after that. This means that this could be the only T81 production run in the next 3+ years, likely even longer.

Right. Because there is only one firearms factory in the entirety of China...

I want to believe this is going to be a good thing so much and I really want to be excited about this but the odds are feeling a bit stacked.

Pure negative speculation without a shred of evidence to support any of those. This will end with the production of the rifles in July as expected and delivery shortly there afterwards to those who had pre-orders. Only pissing and moaning will be from those who thought they could buy one without a pre-order.

Their last update back in february explained that production was scheduled for july.
I don't believe we'll hear anything before then, because well...its scheduled for july.

Precisely. Why would we hear anything? They have already told us the schedule and we are still a month ahead of that schedule.

Maybe TI could tell us how many guns were ordered, and how many pre-orders are still hanging in? That would be the come clean, transparent thing to do.
I doubt they will do that however, since the tone of their last email was a little desperate..."better pre-order now as they won't be making these for another 3 years"...which is pure bullllllshhhhiiiitt lol.
My gut tells me less then 500 on the pre-order list, maybe 3000 rifles ordered...which is why they are not being made.

What makes you think those two numbers are different?

Rumour has it China wants payment in full for x number of guns. And that the preorder has met X yet. Hence why production hasn't started repeatedly. This is a wholly consumer funded venture with a dealer facilitating as middle man.
