keep in mind that Ontario game laws require the shotgun to be plugged no matter what you are hunting with it. three rounds total
Um No, this is so wrong. Those are migratory game regulations. People should seriously not open their mouths unless they know their regs. Semis are limited to 5, pumps as many as the mag will hold for coyotes.
you better check again. Ontario doesn't care what your hunting with a shotgun, it's a three round total, unless they just changed the regs

2017 Ontario Hunting Regulation Summary
page 25, third paragraph down under firearms
" you must plug a semi-automatic or repeating shotgun so that it will not hold more than a total of three shells in the chamber and magazine combined"
I've spoken to more that one CO about this
but your right about one thing though, people should not open their mouths unless they know the regs
"Semi-automatic"
I stand by what I said about pumps, and about speaking about things you don't understand...

Is it legal? What size shot Choke ect.Dave
I stand corrected. Guess this was updated recently. Or maybe I just misread it all these years. Where this gets confusing is they allow 5 rounds for centrefire rifle hunting moose/deer etc. Under deer/moose regulations says you're allowed to use shotguns, no cap....I will dive into this a bit more.

You missed it all these years. Almost every province and State has the 3 shot hunting max, as the Migratory Game Birds Act is Federal - actually, a North American treaty going back many moons. Canada, the U.S. and Mexico are signatories. I'm not aware of any jurisdiction that allows more than 3 shots for hunting, but I have to admit I haven't spent a lot of time researching the topic.
