Best NR rifle

nah ,it wasn't available when I ordered. ( January)
I went all in,CFW barrel,KAC URX hand guard... FACK it, you only live once right..:)they told me 5or6 months..I'm gone past 7 now.

Yeah I am not big on the proof barrel, I should say can't afford it lol. I went with mate lite barrel and fortis 14, they advertise around six months and it only took 4, I guess I was lucky :p.

I hope you do a review once you get it, there few of them sonce most owner get blasted , right Dilligaf? While I do understand some of grievances with atrs owner, to me it doesn't change my personal experience with them and more importantly the product in my hand.

Ya ,I'll post up some groups, for sure.

I'd say the XCR-L keymod HB ,is the best bang for the Buck.
I sold 2 for $1700 and $1900, with only a few hundred rounds through em.

Even after knowing that it's a fancy DPMS rifle at heart? Lots of lipstick. To each their own.

I think the Tavor gen 2.5 TAR 21 right now is the best bang for the buck, especially second hand. I bought a second one, when the prices went to 2K and lower.

Also guys, the mini 14 target model while not really a black rifle, does offer sub moa accuracy. I bought mine back when they were below 1K and added an archangel stock. I really like it now.

From the black rifles I have experience with, I'd likely say a sub $2000 Tavor or XCR are the best bang for your buck. Both run really well, and are accurate enough to be lots of fun :) Incredible value for under $2000 if you are ok with used. An honorable mention is the HK SL8. Accurate, "inexpensive", and reliable. Just not the best for run 'n gun without a few modifications.

If you're buying new, I'm going to go down the controversial path and say the Modern Vamint. A light, well balanced gun, that shoots well, runs very reliably, and is very modular. If you are like Epoxy, and have issues with its internal components, that's alright. Lots of other good guns to choose from, like the ACR, APC, XCR, Tavor, SL8, Swiss Arms, etc. I am just a really big fan of the MV.

And if you ask what I actually think you should buy? Definitely the Swiss Arms, with diopter sights. Heavy, poorly balanced, and not the easiest to mount optics or slings (for a lefty); but very accurate, an excellent stock trigger, and incredibly fun to run with the irons.

Sheesh, sorry to not give you much help. I just love all the NR black rifles :)

Yeah the NEA 102 is here :)

It's a step in the right direction. At least for most of the country, but if you live in places like NB or NS your pooched. You would for the most part forbidden to take it to the bush so range only unless your hunting big game.

I've had a T97 for a few months, right out of the box it ran like a champ. I've run 400+ rounds with zero failures of any kind. It's accurate for what I wanted, and that's a light, compact 223 rifle for the wife to have at her disposal when out in the back country. The ergo' were designed by someone who never picked up a rifle in their life. Having said that, with trigger time and reps you can run the rifle well. For what I paid for the rifle, I'm very happy with it. Just need to work the mag well a bit for smooth operation. Compact, reliable, and fun to shoot. And damn does it ever throw brass at a weird angle. 30 feet to the 1 o'clock position.

The 102 is promising.

I'm playing safe and waiting for reports
Or
If a semi 308 from a 'Merica company becomes available first

Until then I haven't met too many four legged meat packages that talked back to my classic M70.

I wouldn't have issues with the components if it was a $1500 gun. At it's current KAC price point, yes I expect better than consumer grade DPMS parts. I expect those in an $860 DPMS oracle but not in a $3350 carbine touted as "high end". That being said, it's a niche market firearm and as this thread points out, there aren't that many overall options. Whether it's worth it or not is an individual choice.

I agree about the Tavor at sub 2K. I bought a second one at that price point.

I have a Swiss Arms PE90 target model. When I bought it, it was hard to justify the price. These days, not a chance for what they want new. They're nice but not 4K nice. Ultimately I would probably go with an ACR for my next Non restricted 223/5.56 rifle. I keep coming back to them. I kind of liked the SL8 but by the time you do it up like the PE90 or ACR, it's often more expensive than either of those options. If I saw one for a smoking deal, I would consider it. But still, I see a lot of upgraded SL8 rifles looking like ACR rifles...

My T97 has given me no issues. But... it's just a fun plinker with horrible ergonomics. If you can get one cheap, then it could be a fun plinker. But I would look at a Tavor or other options if you're looking to upgrade as there is no point putting money into a T97 rather just buying a better gun that has what you want out of the box. Often the costs to "upgrade" work out to the same or even more than as the more expensive rifle you really wanted in the first place.

Used SAN are not selling for 4K right? Meaning buying used is an option.

Some T97 fun for you! Warning profanity. 3 hours of sleep after a night shift and lots of caffeine.

On a side note, my D&H magazines work very well with my T97. In fact those are my go to mag if not using pistol mags as they seem to work in everything.

120 yards, shooting down hill at a small jar of tannerite. On the last shot I rested against a tree stump. Iron sights, completely stock T97 with 55 grain American Eagle. I was just missing, until I think it was the 4th shot. Keep in mind, a small jar of tannerite. I won't lie, luck was involved. Plus I was racing a buddy who was about to blast that jar with the 50BMG he was sighting in.
