Russian VS Chinese SKS

I understand this. I also know they are NOT an accurate example of a quality chicom. Your comparing the worst of something with the best of something. Thats not how this works.
Yes, was just pointing out the refurb Chico with refurb Russian, on that count the Russian wins! The laminate Russian stocks are also very nice and very strong too! Although I do prefer the look of the solid birch !

Eagerly awaiting pics of pristine brand new guns we have all seen or owned to compare with the poor used mismatched non /26\ chinese examples you recently received in Canada so we can establish what model/country is 'best'.

https://www.flickr.com/photos/25437334@N02/albums ... select the albums that indicate non-refurbished SKS, especially check out the'53 Izhevsk, '51 Tula, and '54 IZH Tula. Those are examples of the very best SKS's that were available up to 4 years ago, courtesy of weimajack. I also had a mint non-refurbished '55 and a non-refurbished '52. Brand new bores, immaculate metal finishing, tight metal to stock fitment, and of course, they were excellent examples for accuracy. The Chinese are 'ok' and while there as some very minty examples, they still don't compare to the Russians. Chinese SKS's to me are shooters very much like refurb Russians. If you are ever so lucky to find a mint non-refurbished, as-issued or unissued Russian SKS, you will understand. Please don't copy the photos to this forum, as they are almost all sold and the new owners (collectors) may object.

...want honey over Russian red?

More apples to oranges, you prefer the look of birch, or both?

I actually like the look of Russian red stained arctic birch, but there some nicely grained examples of yellow Catalpa. Having said that, there are also some VERY nice examples of elm (Yugo) and European beechwood:

Laminate is usually quite ugly (to me), but by far the most durable and practical. My favourite shooter is a "super grade" all-matching 1952 Tula with an arsenal fitted (and poorly stained) laminate stock.

This aint my first rodeo fyi. I have like 30 SKSs.

I appreciate your passion for SKS collecting. At one point in time, I had north of 25 Russians, Chinese and Yugos. I have downsized my collection to a mix of 10 firearms (retiring, and no need for dust collectors, however perfect they are) and only keep 2 SKS's: a mint shooter and an ultra-rare non-refurbished Tula from the IZH import (as-issued)--which was weimajack's personal, hand-picked, SKS.

Nice Swede.

So... This isn't about quality for you, its about purdy wood. Gotcha

That's a Dane (K98), but close. It's actually about everything to me: I am about as OCD over firearms as anybody you'll ever meet. I cannot stand imperfection, unless it's honest wear from hunting.

I don’t think chicom sks are crummy at all. Just like my Russians. Yugos are decent too , heck I like em all. I wish we could get NK and Albanians etc. in Canada , in at least decent numbers. I’d like to have one from every country produced.
