Type 81 Owners Corner !

well, then type81 mags , won't fit AKs, which is a pity;
at the same time, good news is that type81 mags fit SKS-KD and, if there are no FTF/FTE, then it is very nice to have two rifles with interchangeable mags
I am also going to try VZ58 mags in SKS-KD and if those fit and no issues-then SKS-KD is truly universal platform which accepts most mags from AKmoid rifles

Four folders added to the fold. Keepers pending minute check for defects.

Conducted my own bent rifle assessment, as to taking measurements and checking for dimensional accuracy, I come from a journeyman metal fabricator background. I will be posting my findings soon, I know a lot of people are stressing over this issue and what I have to say may be of interest to them.

People need to complain about things, I decided to shoot mine and have fun instead of trying to find faults on this cheap Chinese made rifle.

x2

The longer I spend on CGN the more I think that there would be less people trying to find fault with virtually everything if they would just get out and do some shooting. :)

Put another 100 or so rounds through the ChiCom BulletHose today. 100m, 8" gong. No problems making hits on that.

We found that to zero at 100m the sight needed to be adjusted to have the "3" showing upwards. You would think that it would be "0" or "1" there. Maybe I'll read the instructions at one point.

Cranking up the sight another ka-chunk (becuase they adjustments usre aren't anything like a "click") Got 3 hits in a row on the 200 m 8" gong and then things went downhill. Maybe the barrel heated up because we sure weren't taking our time. maybe the 2008 manufacture spam can Chinese non corrosive has accuracy limitations, too. :)

300 m on the 12" gong basically told us that you wouldn't want to be standing near the gong, but actual hits on the gong were basically random. I think a 24" x 24" gong would be in actual trouble though.

One thing is for sure- it's funny to see how long a 7.62x39 bullet takes to get to a 300m target. Hits at 100 and 200 are BANG- gong moves - CLANK. At 300 it's BANG....Oh i think I missed.....gong moves...........clank? Laugh2

As I mentioned before, if I was going to get serious about this rifle I would get a quadrail and mount a red dot on it. If I wanted to pretend that I was a T81 Snipah I would probably try to mount a scout scope on the quadrail. That actually might be a fun experiement. As is, the limiting factor is sights and ammo.

These threads need more shooting, less hand wringing. :)

I'm not sure if T-81 mags will work in an AK (should have tried it when I had my T-81 on the table with the AK) but nothing I did to the Magpul Pmag make it work with the T-81 would stop it from continuing to function in an AK so there's a decent chance it would work.

There's a dot on the sight housing that you line up the number with, if 3 was up you were probably set to 2.

Yes, I think you're right, people need to get out and shoot more instead of nit-picking every little detail. It's a lot more fun to go shooting than to come on here and complain about minor details. I'm still trying to figure out how many rifles are actually bent or had legitimate issues compared to how many were just guys expecting North American manufacturing level of quality and whining because it seems to be the cool thing to do on here lately. Between the T-81, the M10x, and the BCL 102 I don't think I've seen this much crying since I've joined the site. As far as I can tell there are a few 102 owners that had legitimate problems but that's to be expected when buying an NEA.

One of the three mags I got fits in the SKS-D no problem, one is a little tough and the third one won"t latch. I think they would go if you filed down the two little ears (razor blades) in front of the feed lips and narrowed the rear catch a little (too wide and catches on the trigger housing)

Please click link and watch this video from the Military Arms Channel.... They discuss the Norinco Ak's that were imported to the USA in the early 80's and how people thought they were crude and worthless, they even mention how people would run wall lazers lights down the rifle saying they were bent.... these same rifles now are called Norinco Legends and sell for upwards to $3,000.00 USD... Watch the video and feel good about the Type 81:

It's because there are a limited number which makes them collectable in the US, not because they are so wonderfully manufacturered.
