I wonder if a guy could put a 7.62x39 rifle together out of one of those Macabee sets...
That's the worst short range SKS group I've ever seen. Were your eyes closed?
I'll look if I can find some targets but grouping with my 858 looked like the one from the T81.
100m
Prone position
Chinese corrosive ammo

Nope, those groups of 4" at 100 definitely dont look like the groups of 8" (maybe bigger) at 50...
Winner 858 lol
OP im sorry if it seems like you are being picked on but you had to know you where going to be criticized when uploading this.
Especially when doing the ever so controversial topic of 81 vrs sks.
Then not even coming close to trying to make it as "even" or "unbiased" as possible by from shooting in a supported position or from bags.
You even said "mostly me" and "this doesn't prove anything and im a lousy shot" lol
Rate of fire was similar at least. 16 seconds for sks 18 seconds for 81
Not 100% sure if your pics are the 858 or 81, doesn't matter, you said they perform the same.
Thanks for proving the 81 is just as good if not better than any other detachable mag fed pistol gripped 7.62x39 bullet hose we can get.
A friend of mine owns a T81. He is wondering if you guys are finding much difference in group size and point of impact between Canadian tire Barnaul FMJ vs SP vs Czech military surplus and Chinese non corrosive FMJ ?

I'd still take 5 Russian SKS for the same price as a new T81. Just not enough real world shooting improvement for me. Detachable mag is really the only benefit, and that becomes moot with our 5 round limits anyway...(give me 30 round mags and I'd be in for sure).
Pistol grip? Meh... don't care really. Sights? Too similar (and both crappy), and no real optic solution for either platform.

So what real world improvement are you expecting from a surplus type rifle shooting surplus ammo?
I guess what you're saying is that anyone who has bought a T-81, an 858 or a 58 is stupid because none of them shoot much better than an SKS? By that logic anyone who buys a high end AR is a dope as well since they hardly shoot any better than a Core, S&W, or Windham and cost 2-3× more.
I already have a nice Russian SKS and I have way more fun shooting my T-81.
What's wrong with owning more than one rifle that does the same thing as another rifle? Even if it costs 3x as much but doesn't shoot any better it's still a lot more fun to shoot. Why do people own multiple AR's? Dumb? Or do they just like the platform and want a little variety without wandering too far?
You could easily put together a MacDef in x39 but it's not going to magically shoot 1 moa just because it's in a different platform. It will probably shoot a little better than a T-81 and you'll be into it for $2000 +/-, you'll have to be the judge of whether or not that's enough real world performance improvement for the increased cost. You could also look at the M10x if you want a slight improvement in performance over a T-81. At least both of those are optic friendly so you should see an improvement in accuracy.
Please feel free to post your own review. This was unbiased review but not scientific in any way. I usually shoot better but due to a pretty bad storm bearing down on us here in the east coast I didn't want to spend all day at the range. As I said feel free to get out on your own time and please post a video. I know all those cgn operators and snipers need some material to pleasure themselves to.
Cheers

Lol, yah im far from an operator. I like to sit at my bench or lay on the pig pen and take my time printing groups.
Im just saying if you are comparing accuracy it would be nice to ensure that the "human" factor is limited. Shooting from a sled or bags helps mitigate the human error portion.
Really we all know there is no difference between the two rifles lmao
