Marihuana at Hunting Camp.

It is amusing that some people feel that since it is legal then it is ok. Well sadly you are mistaken in some instances. We have 2 employees that have medical scrips for pot and they were allowed to smoke up and then they were tested to see if they could still perform their duties. Both failed so while they can legally self medicate at home the can not do it at work. ( both were forklift operators and their reaction times were affected.) They both filed suit and both had the cases dismissed. Personally I feel that anyone hunting should be sober and not under any influence.

I'm shocked that someone actually had the balls to both argue against this and then file suit when Captain Obvious appeared.

The very obvious risks in that scenario are, well, super duper obvious. Time and place, moderation, common sense all apply, looks like those 2 missed the memo.

Nobody is saying it's ok to be drunk or high while hunting, if you re read the op's initial post he mentions it as an after hours thing just like booze.

It has never been in the camp I hunt in. I don't want it there as it does not fit in with what a traditional hunt camp is in my opinion. Seems that it is more popular than I thought so no doubt it will become a camp tradition in other more "open minded" camps.

Sorry cant stand the smell of tobacco on people let alone the smell of reefer. I stay away from smokers of anything except meat smokers

I've been in hunt camps where they drank alot ( it was too much )

I don't drink much my self. I find it lowers the hunt experience and you really feel like your dragging your ass the next day when doggin. You live only once, make the most of it and take in the whole experience ! this idea that you have to sedate yourself with drugs is absurd ! being drugged has absolutely nothing to do with hunting

. . I don't mind if others do it on their own time, on their own property... however, I'd like my hunt camp to be a place of hunting, where i could bring my kids to carry on the tradition l

So what about drinking? Whatchur thoughts on that?

And for the record, I don't drink or smoke ANYTHING, just interested in your perspective.

Yeah I bet, nothing keeps me dragging my heels in the morning like a hangover now that I'm in my early 40's. Anyone I know that regularly smokes weed is always up early and ready to go..

This year spring bear hunt is with my Wife and Kids. As much as I enjoy the crazy week in the bush with friends to let loose. Sometimes nice and quiet is the way to go !

At least with the family, I get to hunt all 5 days ;) not just 2 because im passed out for the other 3 ... hehehehhehehe

Key words for hunt camps " responsible consumption" smoke or drink. The issue is defining the wording in quotes.

Everyone should be allowed to enjoy theirs when they are at hunt camp ...But if you wanna get piss drunk or stoned stupid for 4 of the 5 days just book a trip to Vegas. Skip the trip to the place with guns and knives.

Whats the difference if im drunk in the bush, Vegas or at home ? I actually prefer drinking around a camp fire and hearing the wildlife and the bonus is if you do something stupid you become lunch meet for the wildlife...lol...

But the group of disgruntled individual I hunt with will kick your ass and gun tape you in your fart sack if you do sumtin stupid.

If the rifles are away for the day, and the fellow is responsible otherwise, I personally think it is a double standard to say "my narcotic is ok, but yours isn't."

I would personally have zero issues around it. Not much more to say on my part. I'm curious as to the ages of the guys you go with?

We are between 60-72 years old Most semi retired and retired.

As stated, as this seems to have gotten derailed a tad, it is no different than alcohol. Set strick rules when it comes to firearms rules around camp, and respect others (ie. smoking outside, second hand smoke, and so forth)...which I mentioned in my original post.

Also, some may completely ban such practice, which is also fine.

Keep it open boys and girls...

And loike one mentioned...our camp is far from a "Child's Bible Camp"...lol

Well said booze and alcohol never go well together..

When everyone is snoring, keeping me awake, I go out and watch the moon, if there is one, I have a gummy Bear, Take my Gordon Maggies head it my hands and tell her how great we've got it! back to my Woods 3Star. I sleep well and get up long before dawn and make coffee for the drunks that kept me awake. But they are my friends. How many of you after dark guns put away boozers do that? OK we'll go with that. Wait until you can't wait for that frosty air. There is no replacement for it.
