Marihuana at Hunting Camp.

I don't think there is in any Wildlife Act. I've wondered this myself sometimes. Maybe it's up to the officers discretion of what he considers "impaired", but I doubt that would hold up in court, the very reason we have set legal limits for driving.

Courts have upheld officers findings at roadside in regards to impairment in relation to Marijuana use. With legalization you can guarantee roadside screening devices for Marijuana are also coming

Criminal code would deal with being impaired and having care and control of a firearm. Same goes for any motor vehicles you may be operating while impaired during a hunt.

Having each province draw up guidelines in their provincial regulations would be rather redundant

Operating a vehicle impaired while hunting is a moot point, of course that law applies whether or not you're hunting. Where does it say anything in the Firearms Act about impairment and firearms? All I can find is something about it being illegal to lend or transfer a firearm to someone impaired.

Does it have to say? I mean, you can spend a night in jail for being drunk in public, add a firearm to that and see what happens.

Well there's an actual law against public drunkenness. And impaired doesn't necessarily mean drunk.

Section 86 (1) is very broad and likely where being impaired while using a firearm will land you.

86 (1) Every person commits an offence who, without lawful excuse, uses, carries, handles, ships, transports or stores a firearm, a prohibited weapon, a restricted weapon, a prohibited device or any ammunition or prohibited ammunition in a careless manner or without reasonable precautions for the safety of other persons

Coming soon, to a hunting camp near you....

It's not a single post that has brought me to that conclusion...but rather the collective of all your posts.

You should really consider getting some help.

I'm glad you follow my every post, the internet gets boring if nobody constantly trolls you with their useless opinions

I like the cut of your jib......

To add to this, the previous guy that ran the camp (not the owner), was apparently a stickler with a ton of rules..... he left the camp the year I bought it because he couldn’t stand not being in charge anymore..... and he also cost the camp a lot of members..... So yes, I fully understand that nobody wants a camp charter and to hunt under an overlord.... but, the very style of hunting we do there requires rules to keep us all safe...

So ya, for $300 a year, the members get year round access to the camp for them and their families.... 400 acres of land to roam, four wheeler trails, access to great bass fishing with a 14’ aluminum boat and a fully serviced 9.9 merc provided and all of their food is provided for deer season...... heck, I even buy a massive prime rib for the night before opening day.... we all enjoy each others company and always look forward to hunting season all year long...

If all of that isn’t worth not getting sideways at lunch, putting your gun in a cabinet when not in use and making sure to get me your dues by the 31st then my camp would not be for you....

You looking for a camp cook?? Not too interested in deer hunting but I’ll do the fooking in exchange for a week of bass fishing! I make a mean fish fry!!

The toking hunter will want to pick up some of these stylish marijuana containers that symbolize his passions- pot and hunting. Just don't mix these up with your waterfowl ammunition!
