Regarding YETI...

Well I have a Yeti tumbler and it’s amazing. It’s been beat on for years, and looks great. Keeps my coffee hot for a very long time and cold drinks cold. I like the sliding lid as well that they now have vs when they first came out. I will be buying more Yeti products.

I'm going to assume their marketing department, and a lot of people way smarter than you ran the numbers when they decided to do this, I am pretty sure their market is people with firearms. Their target market is campers and people who fish, and then the average beach go-er.

The intersect with firearms is probably low enough they don't care.

NRA.

These people that are much smarter than me are sure acting like they don’t have much grasp on thier customer demographics.

Thier ambassadors include hunters like Jim and Eva Shockey, rodeo cowboys, anglers and BBQ pitmasters. Most if not all of them are in the pro firearms category. They also have skiers and surfers and other outdoor rec people that may or may not be pro gun.

The “intersect” with firearms is enough to employ high profile celebrity hunters to act as spokespeople so obviously the hunting demographic is important enough to them. But more importantly is that these customers actually will turn on you if you take a stance that they perceive is anti firearms. The other groups -surfers and such- aren’t going to suddenly start buying your expensive product just because you cut ties with the NRA. This group doesn’t really care what you do with the NRA, as they don’t even think about guns 95% of the time. The only group that will be pleased by this move are anti gunners that aren’t going to buy Yeti anyway

So these super smart marketing people:

Alienated one group of customers

Did not influence the other group of customers one way or the other

Pleased a group of non customers.

The fact they are already backpedaling tells us these smart guys made a big blunder

That’s a bold strategy, Cotton....let’s see if it pays off for them. ;)

I call B.S. Sure they want our money but at the same time want to distance themselves from the NRA to appease the greenies who can use their coolers while on the hot dusty protest lines. They lost any business I might have given them.

I think it is exactly what is going on. Now after loss of business as a result of their betrayal they are doing damage control.... not buying this BS or Yeti

This is where I’m currently at, as well. If I was in the market, I’d be looking into a Pelican Cooler.

From Pelican:

For every cooler purchased this month, we’ll donate $10 to the NRA + and give you a FREE tumbler of your choice. Promo code: PELICANPROUD

🇺🇸 pelicancoolers.com/freetumbler 🇺🇸

🇺🇸 Made in the USA

Promo good until April 30!

#PelicanProud #MadeinUSA #2ndAmendment #NRA

You don’t think that pelican promotion has anything to do with the yeti thing?

NRA press release seems like they’re butt hurt and trying to turn people on yeti because they couldn’t make a deal to be honest.

Good question... we'll ask.

Get an answer yet? I’m somewhat doubtful you will. It seems a lot of people have been asking this question and Yeti hasn’t provided an answer...makes me think the whole “number of other organizations” line might be BS. Time will tell. I love my yeti cooler and tumblers but I will not buy another product of theirs again if this doesn’t get cleared up.

Who cares if they leave the NRA. We're all Canadians here...

I'm a Canadian and not an NRA member.

However, if I am looking at two comparable products, and company P is affiliated with or supports a pro gun organization like the NRA, and company Y actively seeks to distance themselves from such organizations, then I will purchase from Company P.

I would probably even send company P a quick email explaining why I chose their product over Company Y.

It's just common sense to support companies that are more aligned with you and your beliefs.

I think this is the core issue: I have asked Yeti for some clarification and while it is still short notice, I do not have faith in an answer. The local rep simply keeps saying; "it's all a misunderstanding"... Given the NRA's further document productions, it does not look so cut and dry. The NRA may actually have a point here and Yeti may just be doing damage control.

For me as a small business owner, this truly sucks ass as we just literally got in our first shipment of Yeti stuff to feed the custom shop located in our space. Custom Yeti mugs are super popular and engrave easily....

I spoke to my team about this and we are watching carefully as we have no dog in this fight and only want to have honest products to retail. Yeti may have forced us to look at alternatives.

For the win!

On the plus side, the Yeti boycott seems to be boosting sales of tannerite.

My grandfather always used to say "You've got to believe in something". Well I have to hand it to our friends south of the border. They've got strong beliefs and they are willing to stand up for those beliefs. We could use some of their passion in this country.

No shortage of Liberal gun owners in this thread. Kulaks applauding Stalin, Jews saluting Hitler, blacks voting for Wallace.

relax buddy. just because someone owns guns dosent mean they have to all think alike as well. this is Canada not America and personally I do not like the NRA for various reasons and could care less about expensive coolers however I love guns but I don't need the American style rhetoric to prove it.......my over filled gun safe says all it needs to say

This thread started off as a retailer sharing info.

It didn't take long for the thread to get off topic. Most of the posters should learn board etiquette.

You dont have to make it about you, and your view about a something that is barely related.

Rediculous.
