Hi Folks,
I've started to try and gather up all the CIL info that I can find from various locations in order to compile and publish a comprehensive list on CGN. It's probably because I don't have a real life <G>! Actually, I've always loved them. They were the first firearms that I owned as a kid and I still have them.
I know that my current draft is just that ... a draft, but if anyone wants to contribute info, I'll happily try to update it and keep it current. Please PM me for my email address if you need to send pics or other larger files.
Thanks!
Rob

Kudos for taking the time to do this collection. I feel it is important to capture Canadian history before it gets lost forever. When I was young i had a CIL 22 rifle as my first rifle and I really enjoyed it. I cannot recall what model it was but it was a single shot bolt action and the front sight was hooded. My Pa traded it in to purchase a "better" 22 for me.

A little bit of info for you, the 950T is a Savage "J" action, and the 972's were built by Parker Hale:)

The CIL model 402 is the same as a Remington model 812 and was made in Brazil. These shotguns were made by Companhia Brasiliera Cartuchos (CBC) . Remington owned a small interest in this company until it was taken over by the Brazilian Gov't in the 1970's. They are all single shot break action.

I owned a model 171 and it wasnt a single shot version of the 125. It had a 5 & 10 shot mag. I think the 125 was a single shot version of the 171

HI Sgt!
I've got four 125's, all Anschutz, bolt action repeaters on the Flobert 2 action. I had a 171 in my hands for a few minutes and am pretty confident it's a Remington flavour made by CBC. I have a 167 which I call a SS version of the 125 as it's got the same trigger set and flobert 2 action as the 125. I'm going to try and get some pics up of the various trigger sets used as the variations are quite intriguing to me. Thanks for the input!

Hi Oldcera. The 171 definately is a Brazilian CBC made. I thought it was quite decent for what I paid for it. ($100ish)

Updated Spreadsheet with a new model (772)

I've added the 772 model of SxS Shotgun and confirmed that the CIL 900 is the 1531 AD Anschutz Model based on the 1966 Anschutz listing.

I have a vintage CIL pamphlet on its ammunition, hunting and firearms availalbe around here somewhere.

CIL were a distributor of firearms not a manufacture most of the firearms they sold under contract were of poor quality except for the 22’s that Anschutz built for them .

I sold a single shot for space in my safe to a nice fellow up north..... very nice shotgun and perfect for birding hope they find good use for it. I'd highly recommend them for field use. The single shot was quite a kicker and left me sore for days after playing two rounds of trap with it in a tshirt.
Sold it only because I didnt see myself using it with other options I had but totally respect them for what they are. Nicely glued metal, good wood and good quality workmanship.

Sorry, but you're mistaken.

Many of the CIL centre fire rifles were Savage Model 110s, plus as mentioned before the 830 was a Savage 340, a budget-level rifle, but sound and reliable availalbe in .222 and 30-30. The pump shotguns were also Savages as was a pump rifle and the SxS shotgun was a Savage 311.

I had a CIL 410 gauge over and under shotgun it was made by Franchi actually was a good shooter and nicely finished . I think I paid $200 back in the seventies.
