‘Stopped him in his tracks’: Outrage after former pro hockey player kills grizzly

This is why it is important to vote and not allow NDP retards to make decisions based on emotion vice science and conservation. We are the majority and have the power, but you have to vote the idiots out of office on all levels. Case in point Mayor of Victoria, what a gem. R.I.P. John A. MacDonald

problem in BC is there is no one to vote for. Greens are out to lunch on too much stuff, Liberals are fuggen crimminals and the NDP..... it was certainly the better option of what was availlable. I hate to admit it but i could not vote in the last BC election.... there was no one on the ballot I could vote for with a clear conscience.

The anti's are ill informed, hypocritical, unpassiononate slugs that attack hunters without any understanding of the the hunting lifestyle or sport. They seem to be ok with buying there meat off a styrofoam tray without any true understanding of how it gets there. Hunters revere the soul of every animal they harvest they have an appreciation for the efforts required to complete a harvest and put food on there own plates. The anti's will never be able to understand, nor will they make any effort too try too.

I take true distain with the attacks they spew on the accomplishments of hunters. Shameful and disgusting.
Mr Shocky's son inlaw committed no crime and followed all of the laws set forth by our society. Hopefully made a clean, ethical kill. He absolutely has a right to be proud to post his sucess. If you don't hunt IMO you have no right to pass judgement!

If you're an anti-hunter get bent and find your next thing to be appalled at perhaps you should visit a slaughterhouse if you truly would like to be appalled.... Congrats to Mr Shocky's son inlaw on his moose and grizzly bear. Looks like an experience of a lifetime!! Don't allow the foul mouths of a group of people that have no right to pass judgement on you or your lifestyle to taint your experience.

The law is there to to protect us but social opinion is not. The more we dig our heals in to argue a point, the more the anti's will double down. In a case like this, if the pictures were posted on CGN instead of Facebook, there would not be any backlash. Politicians will leave us alone if we don't draw any attention to ourselves. I think Tim just made a strategically poor move to use Facebook but who knows, he might have felt that it wasn't enough to get his ego stroked by just the gun and hunting community!?! And I don't want to hear any BS about promoting our sport because the reality is that those who are interested in guns and hunting will not be looking in Facebook for information.

I have to disagree with you. Why should he not have posted to Facebook????? He has broken no laws and would like to show his acheiments just like the rest of the world on Facebook. Why do we have to NOT draw attention to our lifestyle or sport and hide our head in the sand because we choose a take on a challenging LEGAL sport of hunting.... so not not offend the remainder of society???? They certainly do not show us the same courtesys.. sorry I can't get behind " shouldn't have posted on social media"

In saying the above if you choose Facebook as your platform expect criticism and ridicule. But if you read some of the comments from Facebook users, this young man does not deserve to be called names that rhyme with blunt. Facebook should remove the posts and warn the posters. It should be no more acceptable to us as it would be to them if we were to use the same language to describe LGBTQ people or women or anyone for that matter. Quite honestly it boaders on harassment, to death threatening, within our society is a crime I believe??

As for the comment " politicians will leave us alone if we don't draw attention to ourselves". Not the braveist of words spoken. For he who remains nameless shall forever go unheard!!!! Im not suggesting that we pound our chests and hang our kills on the hoods of our cars. But we should not have to hide or feel shame for being a hunter. Jesus Canada was founded and mapped for trapping and hunting during the fur trade. It should be mandated as part of our heritage. Not hidden from society because a portion of it takes exception. If your a hunter be proud, you don't have to pound the drum but most certainly play it and never be ashamed.

This is my just my take.

facebook is a pos---full left retard---they only remove right and conservative views---it survives and flourishes with the sjw crowd...

My family is from Bell Island NFLD and they use to go clubbing till the commie bastids took over. We need to fight back or lose it all.

Hunters were the heroes back in the day now they are zeroes?

Post slaughter house vids and pics at the bottom of all your hunting pics so when the negative comments show up you can ask them some obvious questions.

didn't think bell island had many disco's?

Here’s the whole article, without the photos.

The publication holds itself out as popular among millennials.

The author’s profound ignorance is truly shocking. She’s seems unaware that Canadians who don’t live in the North actually hunt.

Perhaps there is a Canadian hunter’s organization that can help educate this sorry excuse for a “reporter”. Perhaps send he some fact about hunting in Canada?

Hunting: it seems like an activity that only ever really happens in the States. Every so often you'll see an American of some sort posting on social media about the latest lion or giraffe they had hunted in Africa. While it's off-putting for many, there is a real market for this kind of 'sport', and unfortunately, it seems it's just as present in Canada as it is in the United States. This rude awakening came about this week when an ex-NHLer went on to document his entire hunting trip online.

Tim Brent, who used to play for teams ranging from the Anaheim Ducks to the Toronto Maple Leafs and Chicago Blackhawks, took to the Yukon with friends as well as his girlfriend in late August. Up until the 16th of September, Brent kept his Twitter users updated on his hunting trip, including some pretty graphic snaps of the animals he killed:

The animals Brent caught ranged from a bear, moose, elk and wild boar all hunted and killed during his stay in Yukon. While Brent was clearly very excited about his "haul," many Canadians, including hockey fans were quick to dispute the man's idea of a fun trip.

Though many were quick to come to the ex NHLer's defence, claiming that both Tim and his girlfriend Eva hunt for "food not just sport." Tim went on to prove that by posting a snap of his fridge citing it as "one of the many reason [he] hunt."

If anything positive came out of this situation, it's that more Canadians are aware that serious sport hunting does happen in Canada. Though it's definitely more present in the territories than anywhere else in the country. It's surprisingly common for people to take a trip up North to hunt during the legal hunting season.

Regardless of where you stand on the legal hunting debate, it's safe the say the images Brent posted were definitely a little too graphic for Twitter. Especially considering how many times he tweeted graphic photos, Brent really shouldn't be surprised he got that heavy of backlash.

I felt the same way last BC provincial election, I voted but it sure was a #### sandwich every way you looked at it. Especially the outcome, we need a better option on a he ballot.

I'm actually not terribly disappointed in the outcome.
I support Unions and the working man and I think the NDP group that got elected is at least on the right path.
Let's say I trust them more with BC's future than I would trust the greens or the crimminals (liberals)

but for hunting they are bad news.

unfortunately, there is still no party in BC right now that I can vote for so hope that changes soon.
The wife and i are buying property in alaska and if things get any worse here in canada, we're outta here LOL

Couldn't agree more, social media is the highground for moralists and professional victims. Nobody on Facebook is going to like your dead grizz.

45ACPKING.

Moving to the USA is not quite so simple. My Son was a citizen when we moved here. You must be a true outdoors type. I like the heat.

I am not a hunter, my Daughter is an animal rights type, me? What other people do, as long as it's legal, fine by me. Have had many a meal of Deer meat! Someone abuseing Children, anyone really, can boil my blood. I carry a Glock 19 every day. Lots of people are against that.

Looking at the size of that Bear! Not the time for a misfire, yes?

Okay this thread seems to going political so here goes and let me know your thoughts . Just so you know I'm a hunter !

So if someone votes NDP their leftists, Hmmm . Used to be if you were a union man you voted NDP so I guess you were thought of as a leftist .
Hell I remember years ago lots of blue collar union men who voted NDP all went hunting in the fall. They would not even think of the government trying to take away their firearms, curtail their hunting rights except maybe in the name of conservation . So what the heck changed ?
By the way I think posting your tasteful hunting pictures on this website is great !

mainly the party and the moaning leftist...

Exactly I’d rather die on my feet than on my knees. Just remember, most of these clowns are clueless about most things they get triggered by, don’t be afraid to troll them right back. I’ll bet 99% of these people losing their minds do absolutely nothing for conservation other than ride a high horse on the keyboard in their parents basement.

its that kind of mind set that will ruin hunting for all of us. Reality is, were in the minority. About 20% of the population hunts. A large majority of the others don't care either way, until they see stuff like this, and they join the anti side. Use your head and use some descreation, as your bragging (or taking a stand as you call it), is going to be the end of big game hunting for all of us. Brag to your friends, not strangers.

Martin Niemöller poem begs to be quoted here, we can pretend that as long as we stay out of the spot light “our” way of life won’t be affected, or we can speek up against misinformation and emotional knee jerks, with the right information, presented the right way, to show an avrage person why anties are nuts and plain wrong, in the end you are an ostrich or you are a lion
