New SK trespassing laws coming soon

Mandatory permission= pay to play.
How else do you think landowners are going to sort the dozens or hundreds of calls.
Don’t be so naive

Too bad.

Want to use it buy it or get permission. Get over it you have no right to something you don't own.

This BS is what is going to ruin it for hunters. Entitled people thinking they have a right to use something they did not pay for, do not pay taxes on, and do not maintain. You want to protect hunting, get permission. The fact that this is even a thing with some posters is why we are in the situation we are in as a country. People think they are entitled to things they did not earn.

If land is posted, or not, I always ask for permission, even leased land and community grazing pastures. Why I ask for permission, my ethics. Equally, these land owners are a great source of information. I'm always looking for a big buck, and who better to ask, the land owner of course.

As it is supposed to be, good job

Someone who gets its

I'm amazed at the sense of entitlement, didn't think it was like that. Got me thinking we need to post our 2400 acres in Sask.

If it goes to mandatory permission you’ll be just another a$$hole that wants to hunt. Right now you can differentiate yourself and build relationships because of you’re personal ethics.

if you are a law abiding hunter you will seek permission before entering any property, it is how the system works, I assume its stated in the hunting guidelines, for some reason some hunters figure its fair game to go anywhere to hunt, if there is no fence they drive around the bush trying to scare something out

this new law hopefully changes the mindset but doubt it will

LOL

You're not so honest and law abiding if you are trespassing are you?

Mandatory permission is no more a road block to honest law abiding hunting than having to get a hunting license is.

Shawn

I'm not trespassing on un-posted land if I have a valid hunting licence and the season is open.

LOL

Sorry but if the land owner doesn't want you there you are

I too am amazed at the sense of entitlement. A common response for landowners around here when asked for permission on unposted land (which I personally do) is “ what are you bugging me for, they're not my deer/geese”

they obviously purchased the land for their own use be it camping, quiet walks, crops or just to enjoy, it does not matter if they only use it once per year they are paying taxes every day its theirs

we have land west of Saskatoon zone 45, its 80% bush and good hunting, adjacent is the wildlife lands, our use is a odd weekend get away with the kids, we use to go trail walking, dirt biking and tobogganing in winter, even though it is posted it is common for hunters to be shooting in there, they get belligerent when asked to leave, we have had snowmobiles go thro there stating its their highway, last winter some hunters cut the lock off the gates, then removed the one gate and threw it in the bust also removing the no trespass signs, we found carcasses on the trail,

this land we paid for and figured with the abundant land besides at least hunters and recreational riders would not enter but it appears not, had they asked permission I would likely not agree because once someone sees a hunter on the property they figure its fair play

So if you posted it and they ignored the signs, (which means they are trespassing) what do you think changing the law will do?

That is absolutely your right.

Bang on. Post away. But when the mule deer are ruining your bales- you best not ask the gubermint for compensation. After all, it’s your land, your deer, your geese, your problem. And by the way, these 2400 acres, got a phone number on the rm map?

Aaaaand... back to my original point, anybody who thinks this will increase the number of hunters and firearms owners (think of the children!) raise their hands... I thought not.

I didn’t even know there was such a thing as people being so disrespectful that they would not bat an eye to going onto someone else’s land to shoot/hunt. I sure don’t appreciate joe blow driving his atv all over my land looking for deer. I’d say mind your own. There’s a reason I went and spent my hard earned dollars to buy land. It’s mine, go on, get a job buy your own land to hunt on.

It's why i keep a few cams on my property during the winter . I got pics of 3 snow mobilers last December including a couple of beautiful pics of one of them . Him , his machine , his numbers and of course date and time of day . Off the county road i found where they accessed my property and took pics of that and then called both the police and game warden . It went to court last week and the guy plead guilty . $1,000.00 for trespassing plus $500.00 for destruction of property . On Friday i filed against him in small claims court . There was only about 5 inches of snow and in one meadow they drove circles around crushing several hundred seedlings that i had planted a few months earlier plus 5 specialty trees that my wife had planted at 50 dollars each . His 5 minute ride into my property will cost him at least $3,000.00 .

Couple questions.

Was the property posted?

If there had been no damage done, would you have called the police and game wardens?

Good on you for pursuing it.

Good for you ! If we all took care of our land like that there would be far fewer trespassing scum. I put trespassers in the same category as common sneak thieves. Nice to see the new $1000 fine kick in.
