I picked up some of that 6.5 Rem Mag brass sitting in the EE. Thinking of converting over a Model 700 SA in 300 wsm to one. With an extended mag box at 2.98". Maybe it's better in a long action... Not sure. Possibly a medium like a M70SA or Kimber to 3" is a better candidate for a hunting gun.
Anyone have or build one? Looks like a nice cartridge running just above a 6.5/284.

I picked up 400 pieces too and an NIB M77 MKII stainless .350 Rem Mag, The McGowen #2 6.5 RM stainless barrel is ordered... going to make a matching running mate to my current M77 MKII stainless .350 Rem Mag. This weatherproof pair will cover any conceivable hunting situation.

Nice plan and great donor. How long is your Ruger Mk2 SA mag box?
I have a Bartlien #2B stainless barrel here but need to get a reamer yet.

I can get 2.920" in the mag box, but don't need it. My bear guide load is 250 Partitions @ 2.900"... but the extra length will come in handy with the 6.5mm... my deer loads for the two .350 Rem Mags are below;

Looks good!
I was surprised with the moderate recoil of the 350 Rem Mag. Neat round for sure.
Finding this unfired 6.5 Remington brass was quite unexpected.

I felt the same... nice brass at a great price, professionally packaged and quickly shipped... very pleased.

I built one on a stainless model 7 for my brother quite a few years ago now. It’s been his main hunting rifle since. Nice round.

Nice. I only sold it to focus on RS models

I have two walnut/blued M77-RS MKII rifles in 7X64 and .35 Whelen... the rest of my RS rifles are No.1-A/S/H rifles. I have had a number of M77-RS MKII stainless rifles over the years, and sold them off, but wish that I had kept the .243 and .30/06... I had purchased an M77-RSE MKII .30/06 and at the time didn't see the point in having two, but really wish that I had kept it for inclement weather hunting... oh, well, that is not the first or last time I have made stupid sales... or purchases for that matter.

I have a great 6.5RM and need more brass. This fella still have for sale?

Mines Leeper built on a SAUM SS action with Wyatt mag box.

It's the most accurate rifle I own and launched 140gr ABs at 3000fps.

Just looking at Hodgon website, looks like there isn't a huge difference in velocity from the 260. Unless I missed something I don't see 3000fps from 140's, what do you guys expect to get from this cartridge?

.260 Rem = 53.5 gr. H2O
6.5 Rem Mag = 68.0 gr. H2O

You should expect to close in on 3100 fps with 140's and a 26" barrel.

I have 1.5 K of the 6.5mm 129 SST and 500 of the 6.5mm 129 Interbonds... working up loads with cheap SST's and then checking the good loads with IB's before taking into the field... IMO, this cartridge should be more popular than it is.
