So there's GODFORBIDTOMENTION importer that now has Type 81 folders. I wonder if this is new import and might have finally properly aligned barrels or is it same import or same issue regardless of another import?

Did it not cross your mind that maybe they got them from the Canadian distributor? Farstar's days of being sole importers are long gone now that Mr. St Amour is retired. It's just a bunch of his younger goons running what's left of the trainwreck.

I understand *M* might not be importers, however there is chance they are in that case (and IF another production run had better QC) there is a chance... I don't mind owning Type 81 folder, I just refuse to own 1k rifle with misaligned barrel.

One of ours, serial number matches one of our imports, plus they have the extra set of sideplates we specified as replacements and had made. Wasn't sold by us to them though, must have been sold off from another dealer looking to get rid of inventory

The bent type 81 is a characteristic for the rifle as a whole... not just a particular batch thing. It can be seen in a few of Chinas type 81 propaganda pictures and it was also common with the type 56 ak variants when they were being imported into the United States.

Owning a type 81 is like eating skittles.... FEEL THE BEND, EMBRACE THE BEND

I'd rather buy a bag of dogsh!t at inflated prices than buy anything from the marred stars. Do these have welded bolt lugs headspaced with a bench grinder too?

It doesn't make sense that they can make a straight fixed but can't with folders.

Btw, The mars site says choice of fixed or folder. Hmmmm, I wonder?

Speaking as an owner of 4 type 81 folders, I feel the "issue" of bent rifles is overblown. I have yet to seen any pics proving anything as bad as what people are worried about.

I have checked all of mine with a straight edge and ruler, they are all good enough for government work as they say. If you are just eyeballing it there is no way you would see any deflection to one side or the other, it would have to be quite the banana bend to be seen and I would need to see pics to believe it.

Zero issues, or bends lol, with my folder and it's a fun little rifle to shoot, very happy with the purchase.

Here we go again. I just asked if it was another import and any chances it was better QC. I got my answer.
SO let's not start this again, there were enough videos and pictures. And if you're not willing to check here's one. "Good enough for government work" is not the same as "straight" in books of many ppl. I understand that we have different levels of tolerance, however don't insult the engineer with major in "Measurement systems" with "good enough", it's not how this civilization was built.

"Good for farm use" is one of my fathers favorite remarks when we have a disagreement on how much effort should be put into a project. I am a perfectionist where he is a lot more lax. There needs to be a happy medium but I cant tell you how much I hate re-doing something that shouldn't have to be re-done if it would have just been done right the first time even if it costs a little more time, money, and effort initially.

If your concerned about quality of a norinco rifle your probally looking at the wrong rifle. The first impression i got from all my Norcs are that they are fun to shoot, heavy, and very rough ( sharp edges, ext ). They all functiontion 100% untill a stock cracks in half or my fingers get to cut up from loading there garbage mags.

There cheap shooters that are good to beat up, not safe queens or collectables. Massed produced on strick time lines. Some of mine had "adjustments" filed or dremmeled by hand lol. But they worked 100%

Take some pics with something like a straight edge off the receiver, I used a 4' level and spacer blocks. I then used a machinist ruler to take measurements from both sides. Your pic proves nothing, sorry but the lines in your deck boards do not count as a straight edge, at least the guys who built our civilization could use a taut string.

If I go to engineer school do I get the magic measuring eyeball or do I need to send in some cereal box tops for that? Maybe it will come with with the top secret decoder ring, I can use that at work to read blueprints

I fully agree with this, there is never enough time to do it right the first time but there is always enough time to do it over, one of my best instructors taught me that.

I was also told to know when I wasn't working on a swiss watch, I too can be a perfectionist but have learned to know the time and place to be OCD and on what.

Yeah right, that's my mission - to convince you. That rifle was gone same day I got her, I use tools when there's a need to, not when it's as obvious as Tower of Pisa. I'm not saying your rifle is not straight, I'm saying mine was not, several of my buddies were not, and many ppl here reported the same issue and feel free to watch youtube videos that report the same. Now I know some had either straight rifles or had no issues with slight misalignment. However deniying the obvious issue reported by many users is a matter of faith or stupidity. Both options are covered by old saying - "You spit in his face and he keeps saying - God's dew!", so I'm removing myself from this discussion. I got my answers.

1000$ is not “cheap”
