PAL Wait Time

So miramichi had my app test results photo etc aug24. Showed online September 12

My RPAL arrived today. No references called.

Personally I think that’s pretty decent.
 
They received mine for rpal on sept 28. Checked today, they’re processing it, so I guess it’s on schedule. Definitely the 28 day waiting period passes before they looked at it, as on monday there was nothing.
 
Update : references and I were called yesterday, RPAL is in the mail! Precisely 4 months of waiting for me.

Called Miramichi at the end of August to check if everything's alright, they told me my application is fine, nothing is missing

3 weeks later (late September), I call again and they tell me the same thing : there's nothing wrong with my application and I should have news within 2 weeks. They received a huge number of demands, and this delay is normal. I can completely understand that. When I nicely told them that it is what they said three weeks ago, they told me it should be very soon, a matter of days.

Nothing since. I know my references very well, both avid hunters that will let me know me as soon as they are called.

No criminal records here, and I can't think of anything that would cause problems. I was very courteous the few times I called. This happened to someone else?

I put a deposit on a nicely priced Sig P226 in August...but now I wonder if I should just cancel it. I wanted to do some hunting as well, looks like it will have to wait next year, if at all.

They must have set a record for processing mine! Electronically submitted my renewal Oct. 2 and received my new R.P.A.L. in the mail Oct 24!
The only thing I did different this time was fax in my gun club memberships the the Alberta CFO after two weeks.
 
I waited 3 months for mine. I finally called the Alberta CFO office and asked them if they could bump mine to the head of the line. They were super nice and did it. I had my PAL a week later.

Just for a comparison as to the inconsistency, mine was also received sep 28 and still doesnt appear online.

28 seems to be the magic number, received RPAL app in NB on Oct 1st, online update this afternoon, cc charged today!

Took My course - March 13th
Submitted my Application - March 18th
Completed Initial processing - March 25th
Status of application hasn't changed, and its been over 7 months.... I've called for more information, but they just tell me the same thing everytime. "we'll call you if anything changes, or if we need any more information from you".

As a first time applicant, I'm wondering if this is normal ? I have no criminal history.

Late August- Sept 8- took and passed PAL and RPAL
September 19- Received stamped results back from FSESO
September 19- Mailed in completed app and results via Xpresspost
September 24- Received and signed for
October 19- Credit card charged, appears online
October 31- License issued!

No boxes ticked. No calls made by me to them, no calls to references. I think I'm pretty lucky to have finished this dauntinf process so quick.
 
PAL TO RPAL Upgrade

September 14 - Application received
October 10 -credit card charged and status updated to “Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date”
October 23-Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued.
October 31 received in mail

Miramich recieved my application 5 October 2018
Credit Card Charged and application status online 01 November 2018

At what point does the Provincial CFO take over the application from Miramichi? Who does reference checks provincial CFO or Miramichi?

As of October 30th, we're officially at the 14 month mark. Called in again, she put another note on my file (3rd or 4th, can't remember), but got on my case for calling in 1 day short of a month after the previous call.
 
152 days later, and my license has been issued! I spoke to the CFO directly over the phone today. The officer spoke to my wife, then gave me a call, asked me a few questions, and told me he's going to send me an email, and that he is authorizing my license.

Now I have to buy my safe!
 
PAL to RPAL upgrade
July 30th: Miramichi receives my application
August 29th: Credit card is charged and "Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date"
Oct 5th: First call to know what's is going on. Application is complete and with provincial CFO, call us back in a few weeks.
Nov 2nd: Second call. No update, call us back in a few weeks...
Applications in Quebec are so slow....
