So does this mean that people is Saskatchewan can protect themselves and their property from trespassers who dont ask permission? Or is this just liberal window dressing solutions in response to people feeling unsafe miles from police response.

Why are you worried about what Saskatchewan does for Trespass Laws when your in Ontario ?
Sounds like your trigger finger is itchen to do someone some harm.

I don't think this will change that at all and that farmers will have more people creeping around their yard in the fall. Change looking for Steve for looking for the land owner of a quarter in the area. I expect farmers in busy areas to be swamped with calls and people looking for permission driving into the yard

But I feel it will at least give an extra tool to LEO and land owners, before they couldn't(wouldn't) charge anyone for creeping around your property, now they will have that ability, which is a redundant point almost with today's court systems , but it is a step in the right direction.

The people that belong are fine, it's the transients , slob hunters, and thieves that now have one thing hopefully working against them. The RCMP here weren't able to do a thing if you reported people stumbling around your property.

Personally I don't see land owners being swamped with calls as slob hunters are too lazy and too paranoid to even make the effort to reach out to contact someone, remember, they are the ones that are borderline committing wildlife offenses.

Saskatchewan has a $2000 fine for trespass. That was for posted property. I am guessing that now, posted or not, trespassers can be charged and fined. Find someone rummaging around on an old yard site you own- $2000. Driving across the field you didn't get off- $2000
It should make the "treasure hunters" think twice and the money should go to the land owner.

philhut- Ralph malph is the only Liberal in power here in Sk. This move is the voice of the people from a Gov't headed by a good local lad.

Ive heard and read....not sure how much truth there is in this but RMs are wanting you to show some ID to see if you are from that RM or a city or town and have been nudging the farmers to deny any urban hunters entry on their land. The rural city divide is getting silly here in Sask after the Bushie case and farmers want payback.

If they don't know you in the RM office you need to get to town more :p

what I meant to say was that the RM councils are encouraging farmers in their RM to deny access to anyone from urban centers, basically wanna card you before allowing entry. Some farmers I know had told me this...possibly complete BS but i wouldn't doubt that this is happening. Farmers are also going hard lobbying the Govt for pay for access..
Now the natives are proposing that any non natives need written permission to step foot on a reserve, i know some major highways cross some reserves...should be interesting.

If I can charge another farmer a fee for access to my land for farming why not a fee for access for hunting?

but I'm sure that's the agenda behind it all.
Don't think that's the intent of anyone, at least anyone I know. Just a matter of it being private land and landowners getting sick and tired of people not respecting the land and/or not knowing who's on it.

Prime eg for us personally, nice day last winter, planning on shooting some trap. Get out the pidgeon chucker and then hear some azzhat screaming around on a snowmobile......in the direction we shoot trap. What, we're supposed to ensure no one else is enjoying the fruits of our labor before we can? I think not.

Had the person asked would have said not tomorrow, day after ok or something. Instead we were pi$$ed.
