Another 1911 45ACP advice thread

Where are you finding a norc for 325? Thats even better deal than i got.

Corey

They come up on the EE from time to time, which is where I got the one I have. You have to be quick on the "I'll take it" button when you see one, though. :)

This is also sound advice. I've had several Norinco 1911's over the year & still have a few. Personally, I've never had a lemon Norinco 1911 yet of all those that I've owned. At the moment I'm especially enamored with the "no made in China markings", plain jane 1911A1 type version. I guess it's because it's so USGI 1911A1-like....

You can usually get into one of the above for around $325'ish. Leaves a lot of room for ammo purchase. ;)

I have one just like that, except I'm not sure about the Made in China part. I also have one with black grips. Like the USGI type one better. Haven't fired either one - yet!

The Norinco black, hard rubber, checkered grips are great; they should have taken a lesson learned when they made their grips for the NP and NZ pistols, and used the same material. Their hard plastic grips suck farts out of dead bears; pistols are great, but I have had to put new grips on both my NP58 and NZ 85.

Never liked the kimbers or sigs due to the external extractor

have lots of 1911s with rails, none have anything mounted on them, look cool, but that's about it.

get the RO

why is there ALWAYS a Norc lover recommend a Norc when someone is asking about a mid or high range pistol?
Can't help themselves LOL

Norinco 1911A1 with no "made in China" or other "Norinco" markings:

Personally I prefer the non-rail 1911. I have rails on polymers and those would be the ones to get lights. If we lived in a CCW world I might change my opinion but the weight of a 1911 with a light would get very tiring fast! I find the unadorned 1911 to be beautiful. Simple as that. Oh yeah, it shoots great too...

Wonder where all your Norinco 1911 hate comes from?
Not hate - more like annoyance. Imagine sitting down for steak dinner with your family and suddenly someone comes up to you and starts spouting the benefits of a vegetarian diet. Now imagine that this happens...every time you go out for dinner. That's how the rest of us feel when Norinco owners pipe in with their words of wisdom in every discussion about every imaginable firearm that takes place on this forum. I mean, there’s probably someone in the Blackpowder and Antiques section right now telling folks they should get a Norinco instead.

Getting this back on track... Springfield RO. The Elite if you can.

And don’t hesitate to get a 1911 in 9mm. Much less expensive to feed and they shoot like a dream.

definately, start with a norinco , so many good used ones for sale right now!

Need some advice from my fellow CGN's.
Im going to purchase a 1911 45ACP. Either a Spring Field Range Officer or a Sig. Tac Ops.

I am debating on the bottom accessory rail and if I need it. The only thing that I was thinking of putting on it is a combo laser/flashlight.
Would I ever use it or is it just a waste?

What are your thoughts.

Thank you

This is Canada, not Sparta. Use that gun in a situation where the light or laser would be useful then likely you're off to court and would pay a fortune in legal fees and lose the house, the 1911 and the flashlight on the 1911 paying off the bills. Better off to just leave and go call the police from the neighbour's house and live with the loss of the goodies that are taken. it'll be WAY cheaper in the long haul. If you use the 1911 at all during this only use it to ensure you and yours make it out in one piece each. Because if you pull the trigger than you'll lose far more...... Sad it is and I wish it were not so but that is the reality we live in.....

Now if you like the looks of such guns with the furniture hanging off them then great. Go crazy and enjoy it. But "need"? I don't think so.

I would suggest you consider STI models in with your short list. They make some darn fine 1911's. By far the nicest 1911 style gun I've ever shot which was stock was an STI Rangemaster. The group it printed off the first mag was as good as any I've ever shot with anything. The second mag was even better..... And the feel of the trigger was like it was linked to my soul. it was for sale at the time for a bit more than I could see paying for a gun. I was a fool.......

I've since got a Spartan which I quite like. It's a great gun (for a 9mm 1911) but not that Rangemaster... not by a lot....

Not hate; snobishness; and more like Kobe beef vs Angus; not meat vs. saw-dust.

Stay away from the Norc and purchase a real 1911.
