I had a pretty good run before my first DQ. My first was last year...rifle through a port window (level with the range floor and pointed into the bunker) and clearing a malfunction...tap, rack, click, damn, yank mag, tap, rack, bang...opps...<did anyone notice that?> continue remedial action...finally the tap on the shoulder <brain processes that yes, in fact, everyone noticed that>.
The best part was it was all caught on video; everything from the gallery chatter stopping dead as everyone waited to see if the RO would DQ the MD to my silly look up at the RO like, “whatcha talkin’ bout Willis?” . That was the embarrassing part for me - the realization that in the heat of the competition I f’d up but instead of stopping myself I kept rocking and rolling. My buddy filming it said that was one video to delete but I didn’t. Actually posted it to YouTube. It’s a good reminder of a lot of things. Nothing to be ashamed of but plenty to learn from.
