Yesterday was the cutoff point for production run #2 of Modern Sporter receiver sets, orders submitted today and going forward will be part of production run #3.
We are still sorting out how many left over F/A uppers we will have available once we have all of run #2 lowers complete. Any extra's will be used for the beginning of run #3 lowers making it possible that when the lowers are ready to go, it could be a complete set.

The production plan is once we are finished the F/A uppers that we are currently machining we will retool to produce the lowers for run #2 and then keep going to machine the lowers for run 3. Once this is done then we revert to making SS uppers which we are expecting to get started on around Christmas. This would make for SS uppers and run 3 lowers being ready to start shipping in the early part of 2020.
We DO NOT have a concrete timeline this far in advance, but to date we have been able to keep within our projected dates.

Due to increases in the cost of materials and day to day costs of running the shop (like a 50% increase in utility costs) we have had to raise the prices on the SS uppers and lowers by approx. $50.00 per part. F/A uppers will remain at the same price as they currently are as we had already figured in the increased cost of materials and production when we established the price on them.

SS uppers are now $525.00 and lowers are now $560.00 with F/A uppers remaining at $625.00

Minor changes have been implemented as follows.

SS uppers revert to the standard ejection port size and we have modified the rear hook so that more triggers are easily compatible. the front of the upper has been thinned out slightly for better mag compatibility.

The thickness of the back of the trigger guard (in front of the pistol grip) on the lowers has been increased a few thou to better align the hole for the safety detent and spring with the hole in the pistol grip to allow the use of standard safety detents and springs. Due to this we are not threading that hole to use our ball bearing and set screw system. The area that supports the buffer tube has also been thinned to allow A2 style buffer tubes to capture the buffer retaining pin without modification.

So run 2 of the SS uppers have this done ? Or run 3 going forward.

Nice to see the changes for the variety of trigger brands. Thanks

If I'm understanding this correctly, they are currently working on run#1 FA uppers, then will switch to make run#2 AND run#3 lowers, followed by run#2 SS uppers. So basically people in run#2 (which I'm in) are SOL as they won't be getting a complete receiver set until 2020.

The only reason I can think of for doing this is to get run#3 done before C-71 record-keeping becomes a requirement?

I'm also hoping that the changes to the trigger area means Triggertech Adaptive triggers become compatible - that would be really nice.

I think you are misunderstanding their plan. As I read it most if not all of run #2 will be covered for uppers and lowers. Late comers who ordered SS uppers may have to wait till spring for their upper. Run 3 is planned for 2020.
I may be wrong but that is how I interpret things and from what I have been told when at the shop recently.

Just wondering when those design changes were implemented if it's possible to find out, in particular the rear hook on the upper. I've heard there were clearance issues using adjustable TriggerTech triggers and I have one I was planning to use. I have an order in the second run.

They made enough uppers in both styles for run #2 of lowers, run #3 of lowers will wait for the next run of uppers after the lowers are complete. If you are in on lower run #2 you will get your complete set late summer/fall of 2019.

Let us know you plan to use a TT trigger and we will try to make sure you get an upper that has the altered hook.
