How are your hands and wrists holding up to all this shooting?
So far, so good. Since I haven't gone for a while, lost a bit of skin on my palm and the inside of my thumb. Nothing compared to the shredding that used to happen.

Couldn’t read the whole thing...but does this mean the previous gun was a one off issue?
I believe I now know why and how the 29-10 failed. namely a cylinder timing issue caused by unburnt power underneath the extractor star that caused the cylinder to bind and drag. But not so far off centre that the primer couldn't be struck. Bullet leaves then hits the forcing cone and gets jammed sideways. That splits the barrel and breaks the frame. Nothing to do with ammunition pressure at all.

Gee, it has been a while such is the life of a starving student. Who ended up working a crazy construction summer job that left no time or energy to even think about going shooting. Anyway, it still works fine. I adjusted the sights a bit now that my eyes have settled down and the results were great relatively speaking.
I guess Tinypics shut down some time last summer so no more pics for now. I still have the originals so if another (free) hosting service can be found, I'll put them back up.

Well that makes a lot of sense, experienced that with light PPC loads in a 38. Never let it get so far that it got off centre.
I am assuming you have gone back to school to get a better job so you can afford more 44 ammo? Lol
That's a pile of reloading, money and shooting!
Now I recognize it and clean before bad things happen again.
Actually I'll probably never make as much as I used to but it was soul destroying so the new career path makes me much happier.
With all the savings from reloading it's almost free or so I keep telling the wife, lol.

More shooting in the last week than in the last 3 months so finally cracked the 17K mark. Zero problems with the gun now. Nothing at all other than normal cleaning. Trying some different Vectan BA6-1/2 loads and ended up with a box or Berrys 240gr TMj bullets. They don't have a cannelure so makes them quite a bit more difficult to use. Accuracy seems about the same as the Campros but hard to tell for sure because I only loaded 27 of them to fill out a carrying case.

it is a Custom shop 629 I believe. There are some mechanical differences between the two.

I do believe you are discussing at least the 629-3 ??
With the endurance package ?
Custom shop later morphed into Performance Center.
Mine is just a regular 629 Classic 6.5" barrel with full under lug and now nothing falls off anymore or breaks as of last Thursday anyway.
Might as well update the round count while I'm here too.

Every single surviving piece of Federal brass has now been loaded at least 30 times with some on their 33rd trip. But after tomorrow there will be less than 100 pieces of it left since 20 pieces are marked as failing. Also I scrapped 2 pieces of Starline brass that had failed after 8 reloads. But that's now maybe 10 out of 1400+ Will reload pictures tomorrow as well on the site that bertn recommended.
