The 45-70 club, are you in?

"JM" is to Marlin like "PRE 64" is to Winchester.
JMs and PREs were made in the era when workmanship, quality, and pride in American craftsmanship mattered.

This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine. So far this my favorite rifle unfortunately I'm Buddhist so I'm not into hunting, only killing paper, enjoy the felt recoil and the smell of gun powder.

^ You could use it on veggies , it'd work like a hot damn on turnips . I've used mine successfully on watermelons , you can't buy that kind of fun . My daughter is vegan , but owns as many guns as I do , no conflict . Nice rifle by the way .

Just took her out for her first walk. A little bark with a whole lot of bite! :)

This was my first experience with the 45/70 government and I gotta say I'm hooked. Time to learn how to reload lol...

Might get a magnifier for that eotech.

Glad you like it cause in the end that's all that matters! The Sbl it a handy rifle I've owned a couple but went with a No1 so I could load hotter and stretch the COAL. I usually put a 2-7x33 scope on my thumpers but that's my preference. Enjoy your new thunder stick she's a beauty!

Ive got an 1895SBL. Killed 2 bears with it so far and it works great for them. I am very tempted to put my name and deposit down on the preorder for the 1985 "dark series". dont need it but looks really cool. Also i wish marlin put the xs picatinny/ ghost ring system on more of their guns.

I'm in. I have a Marlin 1895ABL.
Pretty accurate rifle. My son has a Marlin 1895 GBL. He's better with it than I am. Nice guns.

The eotech on the lever gun is fantastic. A one moa dot is hard to complain about. Leaving both eyes open while shooting at a moving deer is tops once you get used to it. Retraining yourself not closing an eye takes a bit. Once accomplished there is no turning back. For longer shooting I use a traditional scope on a different gun.

Ugh, you guys. Now I am trying to decide what Marlin model to buy for camping and bush hunting in BC. Leaning towards one with the rail on the top but it does not look classic.

Personal choice. The Winchester 1886 makes up for the contemporary Marlin. The only negative with the eotech is in the rain. They tend to need a good wiping often. Going through wet thick brush in BC would be frustrating to say the least with the attached eotech.

Something a little different, my "Holy Crap Cannon". Pushing 540 gr. Train Stoppers. 2 quick shots is worth more than 5 in a lever gun that you can't cycle fast enough. Them African Professional Hunters know their "stoppers". I almost found this out the hard way crawling into a slash pile after a bear wounded by my partner. Long story for another time.
