O’Dell Benelli M4 Clone :)

The Turks deserve every bit of praise and yet nobody here is giving them any. Hard working people with the knowhow and the ability to reverse engineer forging techniques and unique abilities only the bigdogs like HK, Beretta and so on knew for such a long time, always selling us overpriced guns.

They are building guns with technology and knowhow of the bigger guys for a fraction of the money, at an incredible rate and supply.

Huglu is poised to be a leading shotgun manufacturer in the next few years, take that with a grain of salt if you want, but they're making a Beretta DT-11 clone that is better than the original.

I'm liking the feedback on these already. I wonder if a standard M4 buttstock would fit on this. Hmmmmm

No, they wont. The stock mounts differently than a Benelli - its more akin to an AR type adjustable stock, simply moved by depressing the lever and sliding fore and aft.

Are there pics detailing this? Do you know this for certain? I was hoping to put a factory Benelli stock on...

Yeah, I looked up prices are they are close to $200 US. Argh

Ya...

By the time you add a better stock, add better sights or a sight base + drill and tapping...shipping costs to get said work done...just save a little longer and get yourself a used Benelli M4 with a KNOWN and PROVEN track record!!!

The Turks haven't reverse engineered anything - when they joined NATO they basically had no arms industry, they licensed production from HK and Beretta for various firearms. HK was one of the first to "win" a Turkish contract - the first was actually Manhurin who licensed their improved Walther PP. Part of the HK deal was that the Germans would help the Turks build, set up and run plants to manufacture weapons for the Turkish military. So essentially if you buy an "HK looking" gun from Turkey, it was built in a factory set up by HK by workers trained by HK on equipment bought from HK. Later on Beretta set up a plant to build M9's there under the same terms. The quality is generally pretty good, I simply won't bite because the government is run by the Muslim Brotherhood, which was not the case 20 years ago - Ataturk must be spinning in his grave.

I don’t know anything for certain, but one of the sellers of the other clone has stated that Benelli still has some patents on the stock or something to that effect.

I’ve read that, just curious about the statement the stock “mounts differently”. I can understand not copying the stock itself and it’s collapsing method but I’m curious what they would use for the mounting method. If they’ve changed the mounting method that means I can’t even install a fixed stock...

I will be going over to my buddy tomorrow and he has an M4. I will also be running another 300 rounds through mine tomorrow. So far around 500 on it, no cleaning. Will not clean it until at least 1,000 rounds

I'm hoping there was some miscommunication; I think City Boy was talking about the actual telescopic part as it would be silly to not have the same stock connecting point as an original Benelli.
I literally have a Mesa Urbino sitting next to me and my M4-clone should be arriving tomorrow. I will post the results.

Just got mine today. Fit and finish are good. Not as smooth an action as the M4 but still very good. Trigger is a bit spongy and gritty but actually lighter than the M4. I’m not sure an M4 stock will work. The tube is different. Like a mini AR Receiver extension. Plus there appears to be a pair of screws holding the pistol grip to the frame. That is disappointing. The bolt release and cocking handle looks to be an exact copy but I don’t have parts to compare. Just going off of the M4 I had a few years back.

Also, not really diggin the stock it has. Has that ATI look that seems cheap. Wish I could replace it with the real deal. But if it shoots as good as it looks it will be a keeper. Oh, the sights suck. Kind of like a 1/3 ghost ring, U shaped. But when it ghosts it’s hard to pick up the front. Not a very quick system. Useable just not quick. I’m running a red dot anyway though.

First impression... would I buy again? Yep, for what it is , so far so good. Now to shoot it this weekend.
