rifles in 6.5 Creedmore?

With what, a 1:10 twist rate, Big Leaguer?

Did WBY really use a 1-10 twist for the 6.5-300 WBY?

I can't believe even WBY would be that foolish...although there is no question they sure have introduced plenty of foolish cartridges over the years. The 6.5-300 being one of them Laugh2

A whopping 30 fps with the mid weight for caliber bullets that don't intrude on capacity when loaded to 2.8", less speed with the heavys. Try seating a 150gr SMK to 2.8" in a 260 Rem

Why would I want to hunt with a 150gr SMK?
120's at 3000 fps work perfect for hunting. See

It really isn't though. Just an efficient case.

Oh but some would say it is magical. I just think it is very efficient as well. From deer, coyotes, bears, and moose it can do it all and quite well. I have met a few people that bought more budget priced 6.5's and there were less than enthused. But you often get what you pay for. While in the EU this spring I went to a open house of a local shooting range and got to shoot some pretty cool rifles, I just wish there was something like that here. People actually getting a chance to try out these rifles in assorted calibers, no BS, no bravado just real world experiences.

Didn’t think 3000 FPS with 147’s was possible without loading it too hot. That’s good velocity for that bullet

RL26 and a good long seating depth and you'll get there. Try that with a 260 remmy and OOPS you're out of magazine length.
There's no magic to it. Short and fat cases are more efficient than long skinny ones of the same volume.

I stopped at 2700 fps with 147's from my 20" 6.5cm with RL26, loaded to 2.94" OAL

I run the 147's to 2950 fps from my 24" 6.5 PRC.

It really doesn't make sense to chase that kind of speed in anything less than a 26" barrel in the Creed.
Are you running the PRC in a long action?

PRC is on a Tikka long action, my OAL are in the 2.95 to 3" range depending on bullet

I just got a 24" m700 6.5cm, maybe I will seat a 147gr ELD just shy of the lands and keep adding RL26 until something gives

Wby uses 1-8 twist for the 6.5cm and 6.5-300 bee.
