ruger m77 in 300 wm with a cheap bushnell that only lasted a year. i was a hand gun shooter at the time not having owned or shot a rifle. the fellow in the store said if i was going for moose i needed a magnum. he was right i still like my magnums.

I’m the last vote....a pre-64 Model 70 Featherweight,.30-06. That was 33 years ago, from the Canadian Tire in downtown Sudbury, ON. They had great stuff all the time...Colt Sauer 80, and Mark V .340 still naw at Me.

Still have the M70 rifle. Loves 150 grain Super X to the point I don’t bother reloading for it. Started a fetish for M70s too.

to be honest I really don't remember.

I used my dad's old win88 in 308 to start.

Then I was given a 7mm RM for hunting.

So I suspect that the first one I bought was either a 300WM or a 25-06Rem but I cant be certain. There is also a Win 94 in 30-30 somewhere back in time that I bought.

I don't consider my 303 Brits to be hunting guns.

First hunting rifle was a little Rossi 44 mag that my father bought for me. Another Christmas, I got a nicely used Remington Model 760 Gamemaster in 270. Hunted deer with that rifle for many years. However, first hunting rifle I bought for myself was a 1936 manufactured Winchester Model 71 348 WCF. Took my first moose with that rifle.

My first rifle was purchased in 1965. All one needed to own a firearm was a "hunting licence" which you paid for and signed for in the gun store with your first purchase.

My first purchase was a Weatherby Mark v in .270 caliber.
