The Freedom Ordnance FX-9 OWNERS thread.

Anyone tried modifying an aftermarket AR15 charging handle to fit on the FX9? The only thing really missing on my gun is a nice Radian charging handle, I just wanna know if that's even doable.

That'd be interesting, anybody have both on hand to do some size comparison? At first glance, it doesn't have the hole at the end since its blowback operated and the guiding tabs runs a lot longer than on an AR-15

I just compared it to an AR15, not even close, the FX9 is shorter and thinner, the rails on the side run the entire length and is very thin compared to an AR and the lock tab is geometrically in a different position and length from the roll pin that it pivots on. Glad I have the enhanced handle on the way.

Sums it up pretty well. There was an extended conversation on this earlier in this thread and ya ... they’re not compatible.

And that’s why we can enjoy the non restricted goodness

Id not think twice about buying one again. No regrets, mine runs smooth. ctually hoping there's a 10mm version down the road.

Was talking to Michele from Freedom Ordnance yesterday: she said there are serious discussions in the works about producing a 10mm.

I told her I'd be on it like a liberal with an agenda if it comes to fruition. She totally bust out laughing at that.

Put another 70 rounds through mine yesterday, ran perfect all day.
Around 500 total now, no issues after doing the bolt mod. Not sure if it increased reliability or if it was just coincidence I did it as it was getting broken in.

Has anyone tried Ambidextrous Oversized Tactical Charging Handle Latch to see if it would work on the FX-9 charge handle?

FX-9 charging handle is proprietary - shorter than standard as the upper itself is shorter than a standard AR upper. No aftermarket charging handle will fit...so far... They have a more robust charging handle now for sale in Canada through Wolverine.

Wolverine sells the enhanced charging handle

Ordered an FX-9 and am waiting to take delivery. Gun will be shipping tomorrow but I've just recently found this thread and noticed that the FX-9 may not be a great fit for me as a left handed shooter. I see some guys have made some crude (no offence) gas deflectors for them while others seem to just deal with eating the gas from the blowback?

Curious if I should be calling first thing tomorrow to cancel this order and just step to a JR carbine even though I really prefer the looks of the FX-9? Any south paws able to offer up some advice?

I’m a lefty and have no issues with my reloads, 3.3 gr titegroup pushing 124gr bullets. Haven’t shot any factory ammo out of it but with my hotter handgun loads I was getting a bit of powder in my face, never any brass though

Thanks for the info, I will probably let them ship it out and hope for the best!
