My 6BR Build....FINALLY FINISHED(Lots of Pics added 03/12/08) NOT 56K FRIENDLY AT ALL

Best I could do with it today was a .831 5 shot group at 200M doing some load tests.

If it wasn't for 1 flyer (most likely a mistake on my part) I would have had a 5 shot .359 group @ 200M :bangHead: instead of the 1.120" group that it turned out to be.

I can tell you I've dropped my last $2500 on a custom action. Never again. Accurized Remingtons (et al) with custom barrels are the way to go!

for me. There is nothing like the feel of an after market action. The precision machining that goes into them is amazing. I have my first of hopefully 2 more.

So after 3 days of load development I have officially concluded that I am going to be sticking with Sierra 107grn Bullets......I think :runaway:.... until I get a chance to try some Bergers perhaps?!?!

The top speed I could get the Lapua 105's up to was 2860fps (avg of 5 shot group) with 31.1grns of Varget and seated kissing the lands. More powder (31.3grns) just made for slower velocities by 20fps :eek:

I took the Sierra 107's out tonight and here are my results:

2 different sets of loads, both tested at 100m

Seated Kissing the Lands:
30.5g Varget - 2860fps - ES 8 - Group .554
30.7g Varget - 2874fps - ES 26 - Group .357
30.9g Varget - 2896fps - ES 15 - Group .574
31.1g Varget - 2923fps* - ES 21* - Group .688

So I got to shoot my new 6BR out to 300m this evening with target pullers. So much better than a static target on a backer board.

Now....would this be considered "Like a House on Fire"?

150 - 14X (I got a little excited with all the X's and figured I needed to unswell my head a bit with a 10) :D
My second string was not as good as this one and I still felt the need to drop a 9 on my 15th scoring shot just to bring me back down to earth. (Note to self.....FOLLOW THROUGH!!!!!)
For a veteran shooter this group is probably larger than one would like, but for me who just took this sport up 3 months ago, it is quite exciting.
Target is actually upside down, so if anyone says I needed to add windage to bring it right is wrong :D

Overall I am pretty happy with the way it shot tonight, I think it helped that my Jewell Trigger came in the mail today and I was able to get it installed before I went out. I didn't have time to adjust it at all so whatever it came from the factory set at is how I shot it. I can say though that it is set WAAAAAAAAAY lighter than the stock Remington trigger that was on it.

Isn't it nice when a project comes together like that? I do think that you should be able to tighten up the vertical in that group. It's been my experience that groups from 300 on out should be more of a horizontal affair-once you have follow through, grip and position all squared away, keep working on your load until you can cut that vertical a bit. Remember that the fattest part of the ring, which gives you the most margin of error for wind is in the middle, top to bottom.

You can get used 10D's for ~ $600 for Body and a little more including 1 lens. 1d's are quite a bit more but still have come down a bit in the used market.Asking about $2500 or so.
As Photographers upgrade, they sell em. Best time to buy.

I went from a Digital Rebel to a 10D then to the 1D MKII.

Yes unfortunately as new stuff comes out the price of the last model plummets. I had a friend sell his 1D MKII recently for $2500
