Judging from this video, the Tavor 7 looks like a game changer in the 308 bullpup market. It has aced the game from all sides. Amazing ability to switch ejection and charge sides. Ideal charge handle. Soft recoil.

The only weakness left on the table looks to be accuracy. But it doesn't seem the competition is even dabbling in the accuracy game, they are still trying to figure out the more basic parts of a 308 bullpup.

Definitely neat, but Kel tec already did this years ago and you can get em used for about half the price of what you are gonna pay for the tavor.

Sadly that is the most important area of concern in my opinion on any larger calibre firearm.

I generally considered myself at die-hard iwi Tavor fanboy, but unless they can get accuracy sorted out, I am afraid that I am not really all that interested in a Tavor 7. The TS12 gauge shotgun is in a similar position. If they would have just made a magfed 12-gauge Tavor it would have been an absolute hit out of the park in my opinion especially if it happened to use the Turk mags that seem to run so well.

This is only important for left-handed shooters. However, there were numerous complaints about previous Tavors in regards to hot gases escaping through the ejection port into a shooter's face.

Soft recoil.

This point is somewhat subjective. How one perceives recoil depends on individual factors.

I'd say this is the most important part for either casual or competitive shooter. But since Tavors are military guns also adopted to a civilian market, well, there we have it.

What are the most basic parts of a bullpup that the competition is yet to reach? Surely not ambidexterity!

Interesting thing - the IWI webpage on the Tavor 7 says it takes NATO MIL STD 7.62 magazines. When did there get to be such a thing? Back when they could have used a standard it was a world of incompatible inch and metric FAL and M14-pattern, or you can get XCR and AICS mags, and last I heard that was part of the reason people were so happy to go 5.56 because there is a standard mag there.

And I guess the next question has to be whether there's a pistol mag in Canada that fits this new Tavor.

I'd prefer to have a high degree of reliability over long range accuracy in a platform like this.

I mean, for one thing, there are many better platforms -and calibers- available for fine work anyway.

100 percent agree! I wanted to really like it. I had a Kel Tec RFB which handled well and wasn't bad. I could get 1.5 moa 5 rounds at 100 with it after doing a lot of load development. I ended up trading it towards a SR25. Have never looked back. The Tavor7 seems like a much nicer version of the RFB. I don't maybe some day but the Tavor7 isn't high on my list. I considered the MDR to be more what I was looking for (when it works right). But we know how that ended up.

Interesting you would mention the turk mag fed shotguns. Looking at getting one of the bullpup ones in a few months. Look pretty good.

On a side note, IWI has introduced their AR15 which looks to compete with LMT mrp and HK. I need another AR like a hole in the head, but unlike the Tavor7 that one really does have my interest. Now if we could only get IWI to do their thing with a copy of the Remington R10 ERASR !

I thought the MDR was prohib?

Looks to be a really well thought out rifle, with great features especially for lefties.

Accuracy looks fine to me, given the platform. 5 shot 1.5-1.8 MOA groups at 100 with factory ammo for a rifle like this is perfectly acceptable. More than accurate enough for most hunting applications you may choose a rifle like this for.

When he got on target with the scope on the 8" round target he was making consistent hits in a decent crosswind, and he said he was holding a bit low so maybe just Kentucky windage for the low hold instead of actually lining up with a crosshair. And that was 250 yards.

If I wanted to hunt with a bullpup .308 I would be interested. Bullpups sure can be handy rifles for use in bush or when using a ATV or truck. That said, I don't know if I personally have a use for it. :)

That's pretty much my interest with this gun. It would be a nice hunting rig.

Man I'm.excited. sub 2 moa on a 308 fielded bullpup. More than I was expecting.

It's not a long range precisions rifle but for a hunting/bush gun they hit the mark.
