If you read the articles, you'd see that one of the people specifically said these artifacts should be donated to museums so they can be put in the correct context, So they understand the historical significance of them they just don't want private citizens to have them (which obviously has its own issues).
Among the items up for bid: a West African fighting sword, an antique Vancouver police constable’s billy club and several Soviet-era helmets.
“Richmond is 76 per cent visible minority now. I don’t know of any other jurisdiction in North America that would compete with that type of diversity. That’s why I think, of all places, to hold this in Richmond, a community that I think reflects diversity and tolerance, is a bit offensive.”
I would tend to agree with that statementI would venture to quess.. That the people doing the protesting are not the ones to put their lives on the line to protect rights and freedoms..
From the linked news article :
Hmmm, yes.
Very selective outrage from this Jas Johal whiner.
Nazis bad, but Commies get a free pass?
Yeah...okay bud.
The B.C. Liberal MLA goes on to say :
Lol....76 percent "visible minority".....sounds like a majority there, guy.
And if he were more honest, he would drop the diversity buzzword.
If you have ever been to Richmond, you'd know its anything but diverse.
Buddy is just virtue signalling. Screw him.
Erasing and forgetting history only dooms the next generations to repeat it. Cancel culture needs to stop, history is very interesting and should be shared. Not all stories are good one and learning can be done from both the good and the bad.
This is STUPEFYINGLY dumb logic. Object and suppress these relics and millions of Jews would have died for nothing. Private ownership does not equate to a celebration of Nazism - hell people can get repro flags magpie without paying for auction house premiums and I doubt the average hick can even afford what Maynards is offering.
As they say those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it. The cancellation mentality is a step backwards in social progress.
Ironic. And it is especially what is the word?.....cynical?....as the movement they are protesting against believed in erasing and rewriting history to suit their ideology.
Apparently the Jewish community was a large part of getting the items pulled.
And it is especially what is the word?.....cynical?....as the movement they are protesting against believed in erasing and rewriting history to suit their ideology.
Richmond IS diverse. Just because you can't tell the difference between Chinese and Korean and Japanese and Taiwanese doesn't make them all the same thing.
What you see is that they feel entitled to tell other people what to do and what they should do.
This is simply a self appointed form of a self justified vigilante cultural revolutionary committee.
That makes what they need to do and can go and should do automatic and very clear..........
Interesting. I have an Israeli 7.62 Mauser with non-peened eagles/swastikas. How would they like address that?
We got over having 'Emo Rage' about the Romans and other historical forces with far longer and worse track records........
Those Romans....whoa!......those dudes really got 'genocidal' when angry......what happened when they got mad was not for people with weak stomachs.
But.
People got over it. Nobody is throwing statues out of museums any where.
What is going on now is simply political social guerilla tactics.
Using history and heritage to leverage power and control.
The historical issues are only handy ammunition like rocks found at the side of the road you can throw.
These people have neither shame nor decency and cannot be dealt with or responded to without considering that words in the context of history or culture or objectivity of any kind will be useless.
