Parker hale m82-m87-C3-C3A1 Rifles

I bought a NOS C3 stock 3-4 years ago and paid $300 c/w 4 spacers. The wood was not walnut but seems to be Beech of maple? see picts.

Stock is "Stained Beech". It's a replacement. You're missing 2 spacers and pad is chewed up around the lower hole. Nice piece. Ron

Good you have the 4 spacers. Most often this gives a LOP for guys with arms to the ground. Most builds use no spacer to a max of 2. Pads are fragile as you say...tough to find a replacement. Ron

Here are a few quick picts of the C3 stock with a 1200TX in it. The bi-pod spigot/hand stop is made by versa pod. The sling is a 1907 copy. I am working on a C3 clone sling to fill the gap.
I have a fixed trigger guard / box mag, the C3 didn't have detachable magazine like the C3A1. The rear base to mount the scope on is drilled to use the original Parker hale screws.
Which are larger (don't know the thread pitch) than the usual sporter actions. I wanted to preserve the action as close to original as possible. Scope is a vortex, I have given up on the khales scope hunt
too many close calls and missing them by a few days or hours only to find out they are spf....

Well just picked up another C3 stock. Not sure where I am going to go with this one. Either another clone... or maybe something else... guess it depeneds on the action I come up with.

I love Parker Hales, even more then my Blasers

Hey everyone,

I've been referred to this thread for a question I have about a PH bipod I own. It's an AC189 With the handstop and I'm looking to get rid of it. I just can't really find much info on them for how much they go for.

I don't own any precision target rifles and the thing came on a crappy Husqvarna Mauser I traded a shotgun for. I knew they were decently expensive, but not entirely sure. The trade was worth it for the bipod alone it seems.

Anyway, I was wondering if anybody can give me some info on it seeing as you guys are the experts on this stuff. I'll link a photo below.

Thanks a bunch.

Has anyone had luck getting a stock from old western scrounger? wondering what they are like condition wise.

Hi CGN,

I found an older Parker Hale 308 rifle aim the house and was hoping to give it an update. The action and bbl are in great shape but the stock has seen better days.

Does anyone know where I can source a modern fibreglass M85 stick for these? Maybe Canadian likes MDT Orr cadex? AI would be good too as it was after all made in Birmingham UK.

It would be great for my son to shoot his Grandfathers gun. However it needs a facelift.
I'm a Remington 700 guy so this is a steep learning curve for me. Any help would be great. Thanks

Unfortunately No neither Cadex or MDT make stocks for the M98 action series rifles . I do believe that McMillan Stocks may still the molds for the C3A1 stocks that they supplied to the CF

If you are looking for an M85 style stock Mcmillan sells the "McHale" pattern tactical stock, I have one and it looks just like a PH M85 stock and as far as I know the M85 stocks are McMillans. They should have an inlet program for a large ring M98 action as well.

If you wanted a C3A1 stock that is a McMillan as well although the C3A1, as with the M85, was not a 1200TX action-the C3A1 stock is a McMillan A2 with all the bells and whistles ( saddle CP, spacer LOP system, marble camo finish etc)

McMillan is able to sell direct to Canadian customers as of March 9, 2020 so you can order direct if you decide.

McMillan still has the molds and color codes and will make you a stock, but it’s going to be a little bit more money because it’s a custom build. Wait times are also going to be longer.

Here’s a McHale pattern McMillan although mines inlet for a Remington

Nice Canadian issue C3 Unertl scope just sold for 4655 USD down south. That's an eye watering $6600 Canadian. A little rich for my blood but only the second one I have ever seen for sale.

So is this an ex-dnd rifle?

The M85 was developed as a British Police rifle and submitted to the British Army as a replacement for the L42. It went up against the L96A! and a few others...it did not make the final cut and the L96A1 was selected due to it's chassis system/modern design. Many expert feel this was a not the right decision and preferred the more traditional M85. It certainly has the accuracy....records exist for each test fire. Lot 1675 listed in the current Rock Island Auction is the real deal. A variety of scopes were offered or installed post purchase. Schmidt Bender, Pecar, Kahles, Swavorski were the most scopes seen on M85's.

The M85 was not submitted for Canadian Trails. Parker Hale submitted the M87 which was selected and modified to C3A1 specifications.

Rock Island is also selling Lot 512. It's listed as a M1200/M82 and is described as a "Canadian Sniper". It looks like a barreled 1200TX. it's serial number is P-38186. not in the "R" range we know as the C3.

Great to see the interested in C3/C3a1's.

Ron
